Nerf Shotguns Please

(larkishLeague) #1

It’s ridiculous how every game that comes out with shotguns, make them OP right off the bat. Just went against an entire team of Proxy’s and Aura’s, all with shotguns except 1 or 2 and got destroyed. Had nothing to do with skill, just 2 shots from a shotgun and you’re dead no matter how hard you try. Please nerf them :frowning:

Try playing Aura or Proxy for a while and see if you still feel like they are OP.

Maybe they are, but it is always better to understand your “enemy” before you make any assumptions one way or another.

you basically just need to play fragger and cook grenades on them, even if they kill you, your grenade kills them

I really don’t feel like shotguns are overpowered at the moment. If you’re not at close range, you’ll oftenly end dealing pitiful damage and get wreacked by non-shotgun weapons. I also got downed in a extremely short time a couple of times by a SMG kind weapon while I was at point blank, where I was supposed to be at my maximum damage output.

Take your distance and aim for the head. As it is, only the weakest mercs are able to use shotguns (both have less than 100 hp), so you can down them extremely fast.

I think the shotguns are OP because the movement speed is so much higher on those characters and there is very little spread associated with bunny hopping. It is very difficult to target the bunny hopping shotty proxies and auras in med/close range and they can maintain almost the same lethality

Options could include increasing spread with jumps, reducing jump height, creating a stamina component like in Wolf to limit bunny hopping and spaming mines or further increasing spread to limit med range combat but preserve close range.

Shotgun simulator 2015 !

way to much shotgun on the battlefield …

While I agree with some of @smartIsland I think one simple solution would be just to lower the movement speed of very light classes. Shotguns will seems a lot less OP when you can’t close the gaps so fast, yet will stay useful in close combat.

(smartIsland) #8

Btw maintaining distance strategically makes sense but so many of the objectives are close quarters and the maps are small really favoring med to close range

(smartIsland) #9

Lowering the movement speed is for sure another option

The problem is the movement speed if i was a new player i would think that proxy is using speed hacks its retarded giving fast merc like that using shotguns.

I don’t feel like speed is a problem. Using a SMG like weapon (on Sawbonez), I never had so much issues at shooting fast mercs. They actually need that speed in order to not die stupid fast. Also, I noticed that you move less fasr while sidewalking (try it !), so straffing is not the most efficient thing in the world, considering basic loadout cards you can’t jump twice in a raw without loosing momentum (the game is made like that : jump two times in a raw, and at the end of the second jump you’ll somewhat make a quick stop).
