need some texture help

(Venom) #1

im trying to make a texture that is basically like water except not. i want it to be clear like water and to be able to go through it so i took the shader for water and kinda modified it. so far i have made the texture and shader, but no matter what it still shows up as the black and orange lines in the game. in radiant it shows up fine and has the white line around the picture. here is what is in my shader

textures/portal/portalgreen
{
	nocompress
	qer_editorimage textures/portal/portalgreen.tga
	qer_trans .5
	q3map_globaltexture
	surfaceparm trans
	surfaceparm nonsolid
	surfaceparm nomarks
	cull disable
	nopicmip
	nofog
}

the texture is called portalgreen.tga and is in portal which is inside textures. can someone tell me what i did wrong? :banghead:

  1. Custom textures have to be a certain shape in pixel resolution. All textures have to be in “power of 2” like for example 128 x 128 or 256 x 256 etc.

  2. If you don’t run the game with the sv_pure 0 option then all media has to be in PK3 files.

  3. Some people still insist on creating textures in progressive JPG format, it simply does not work with the Q3 engine.

  4. Create all custom textures as TGA’s. It’s simply a better format and does not cause so many errors.

  5. I suggest you have a look at a shader manual. http://woekitten.org/misc/ <-- This a good one to start with.

  6. Please check with the search button on these forums. Water/liquid shader questions have been asked before and recently again.
