In one of the first versions it used to have those numbers behind the category names for both the top stories and the find area. But I dropped that for the top stories because…
a) It doesn’t matter. You don’t put numbers at your screenshots, previews, news, etc. categories at QWC. It’s not important how many posts there are.
b) Right now it’s easy to follow how many posts there were when you last visited the site, but someday there might be hundreds of posts and there would be a lot of irritating numbers behind the category names for no reason.
For the find area there are numbers of posts behind category names. Here it does matter so I left them in.
As for your other idea, showing the number of new posts since last visit, yes, that’s a great idea. I’ll look into adding that feature. Shouldn’t be a problem.
Thanks Fab :drink:

It seems I have been too fast with my reply. The “show posts since last visit” thing won’t work the right way. I’ll try to test some things, but I’m pretty sure it won’t work in a way a user would expect. Don’t want to spam that stuff here so if you’re interested in the “why not” you know where to find me
Too bad, you had a really good idea which I didn’t think of, but at least now I know the reason why all the other digg-clones don’t have such feature.
