Need points for holding strategic locations

In maps like trainyard where the room overlooking the objective is a key location to take , I think we should get points for defending them like we would if we sat on the objective. I’ll go rhino to defend those types of locations and end up with very low score at the end even with high kill count. There’s a lot of situations where holding locations with a rhino doesn’t award anything.

I don’t exactly think holding a strategic location should give you score… it should just help you win the game… not award points. I can’t comprehend how that would make sense to implement that. Think of Counter-Strike. You sit in specific places or go a certain route for strategic advantage on the enemy team so that you can get more kills/have an advantage, not get bonus points for sitting there… I feel that would be farmed way too easily…

Yeah… Maybe…

“HAI GUYZ! Who got GAME MODE missions?” “OH, all of us?” “Lets sit down and spam chat for few minutes and EXP!”

Maybe not that likely, but yeah… perhaps?

I get where you’re coming from but the fact that if you’re playing objective and you hold a position like that then its not about the points but about the win. You’re doing your job as a good teammate and holding down a spot so the enemy can’t advance. I can see being awarded for that but that’s also what the long defense bonus is for. Maybe think about increasing that.

That gives me an idea. A King of the Hill gamemode. (you know, kinda like the one in the Gears of War series.) or maybe something like a domination or capture the flag type gamemode. I mean the closest DB has to capture the flag is “Delivering the objective”

Personally I like the idea of “area control” and “gaining ground”.
If you have Rhino or other merc making it sure specific area/zone isn’t reached I think it should count in similar fashion as the long-defence bonus.

It could work as game mode as well, which could support also 6vs6 competitive matches.
Those who hold the most areas the most time will get the most points.

Maybe an added bonus for not allowing the attacking team to plant c-4 possibly flawless defense bonus

It’s not really a key area to hold. It helps, but not even close to mandatory. Like the control room on the last objective of Underground. It helps, but not completely necessary. I’d rather have a Rhino protecting the actual objective. There’s no need to ever expose yourself to minigun fire.
