Need help with effects

All I want is an entity that fires a bullet at a target entity when triggered.

shooter entities only seem to be able to fire rockets, mortar and grenades.

target_effect entites seem to be used for explosions.

Is there someway to have an entity play the gun shot effects used in ET? Or is there a much easier simplier way to set up a bullet effect?
Will I need a custom effect?

Any ideas? :???:

Unless theres some way to script mg42’s/tank guns to fire by themselves, I don’t believe there are any entities that can fire ‘bullets’ without a player controling them.

However…
You could set up a trigger_hurt entity and a few target_speaker entities to be alerted by the .script whenever the player passes through. Set the trigger_hurt to do the desired amount of damage and have the target_speakers play whatever gunshot firing and impact sounds you want.

Thanks for reply. I had considered that, but I would need to set up a lot of speakers, for fire sounds, impact sounds and the player is naturally going to look around for who is shooting at them. Its just not the same without seeing where the fire is from and at. Notice in game you can tell where fire is comming from easily.

I don’t think its possible to target a user operated gun though entities.

Custom effect maybe?
