"Need a medic" sound when player is fragged

(BlackEight) #1

Hello

I have a lot of spam at server with dying guys and that auto “Need a medic” sound. There are players and bots dying all over the place so there is that continous “Need a medic”. I have altered the voice chat recently so now I have couple extra “Need a medic” sounds:

sound/chat/allies/21a.wav	"Need a Medic!" sprites/voiceMedic
	sound/chat/allies/21b.wav	"I need a Medic!"	sprites/voiceMedic
	sound/chat/allies/21bb.wav	"Medic!" sprites/voiceMedic
	sound/chat/allies/medic.wav "Medic!" sprites/voiceMedic

With wm no other lines have sprites/voiceMedic, has that sth to do with my problem?

Kind regards,
BlackEight

About your problem:
Are you referring to vsays the players/bots do (with chat text) or the auto-‘medic’-sound that is played on every death?

What means “wm” ? and what was your actual problem ?

If you want to alter the “need a medic” sound when players die, and you want to do it in your own mod with coding, then id advice to have a look for

	cgs.media.sndMedicCall[0] = trap_S_RegisterSound ("sound/chat/axis/medic.wav", qfalse );
	cgs.media.sndMedicCall[1] = trap_S_RegisterSound ("sound/chat/allies/medic.wav", qfalse );

You could either do it in some kind of round robin scheme, or you could call some rand function in there, to make the sounds more variable.

Hope i understood what your problem was.

Hope i understood what your problem was.

I haven’t touched the game code in years but IIRC this is triggered as an event in g_damage (I think?) and then communicated to the client code and executed there.
You would either have to edit the code and remove this or replace the audio file with a blank sound. Of course this is assuming you’re only worried about the sound spam.

g_voiceChatsAllowed is what you are looking for - also have a look at omni-bot/et/scripts/goals/goal_voicechat.gm

That “auto-‘medic’-sound that is played on every death”.
That “auto-‘medic’-sound that is played on every death”.
Ok, that means g_voiceChatsAllowed won’t help you.
The soundfiles you’re looking for are sound/chat/<teamname>/medic.wav. Replace them with empty files.

What do you mean with “wm” ? What was your problem actually ? What is your approach to your problem, coding, just modding files ?
