I’m wanting to create a sign that says “Attention!” in my map, but I want to write it in German. Is the proper word “Aufmerksamkeit”? Any help from a real German speaker would be really nice!
Need a little German translation help
Does “Achtung” have any implications of danger? I don’t mean “Attention” as in “be aware of danger”.
I mean “Attention” as in “Please read this”.
With that said is “Achtung” still the word I should use?
some german words/signs that may be useful
“read me!” = “Lies mich!”
“attention” = “Achtung”
“danger!” = “Gefahr”
“beware, danger!” = “Achtung, Gefahr!”
“high voltage” =“Hochspannung”
“ammunition” = “Munition”
“dynamite” = “Dynamit”
“explosives” = “Sprengstoff”

You are right, “Attention/Achtung” means a little bit of danger!
If you will write “Please read me”, then take for german “Bitte lesen”
PS: I’m pleased to test the public-beta of venice!

OK, now I’m confused. If “achtung” implies a bit of danger, as I originally thought, then I don’t want to use that word. I want a more informational definition for “attention”. If I want to say:
Attention: Only Soldiers Can Operate Artillery Gun.
What word in German should I use?
Soon…
I find this site to be helpful
After three uses it will give you an www.ets.free… delete the ets and use it all you want.
Just a little help for all of us unilingual people out there.
Yeah that’s a good site ToasterKing. I’ve used it many times before. Unfortunately, it gives me the same word as babelfish, “Aufmerksamkeit”.
And no one has said that I should use that word.
well, use this:
“Attention: Only Soldiers Can Operate Artillery Gun!”
“Achtung: Nur Soldaten können Artillerie-Geschütze bedienen!”
