If brink uses names from steam (nicks, not acc names), does that mean that your nick may not be unique in the game?
I actually would like it better if your name was unique like in the Battlefield series. Avoids confusion and possible abuse.

I believe it uses your Steam alias so no,you will not be able to have multiple names in game.

Those with the same name will have a (1) or (2), o some other number. It really isnt a problem.

It’s not a technical problem, but in a game where you can customize so many things to become unique both in looks, style and gear you carry; not having your name as unique is a downer.

Wonder how stats will be handled with this in mind.

Not a problem nor a downer. Many other games on Steam do the same and it isnt an issue. It stops people from abusing servers and such. If you had multiple names it would be harder to ban hackers/trolls, etc.

better than not being able to pick the name you want cause someone else picked it first imo.

stats will be tied to your steam account, not your nick

The in-game name will be the one you use as your steam community alias. Due to avatars and friends, it’s hard to mix up players.

In the rare case that 2 players in a single server have the same name, the one to join last will have “(1)” in front of their name. If a third has the same name, he will have “(2)” in front of his name, etc.

Trust me, the non-unique names are not an issue.

I would go by my alternate name BABY-SMASHER but for some reason that name get me banned, i hate prudes and fairies that collect children in thier servers

it is directed at people not currently dealing with it I take it. Anyway my name is unique if anybody takes it they are trying to impersonate me. It helps not to have a generic name, really.
