Nader on comp

(SteelMailbox) #1

I recently played a shit ton of Nader both on pubs and comp. I noticed a few reasons to why Nader might actually be lacking behind Fragger in the comp meta.

  1. Bugs. Currently there is a bug that when you die while firing your grenade launcher 2 nades will fall right under you. This causes problems where 2 nades are deducted from your grenade launcher and you need to wait for cooldown.
  2. FF. I personally think the way FF was implemented is kind of flawed. Mostly cause of the fast pace and explosive spam this game has. The bug I mentioned above also causes a huge problem for comp because of FF. Let’s say you are a medic and you see a Nader just died and you want to revive her, well you are fucked since those two nades will hurt you. You don’t even have to be a medic to suffer from it. I had several times where this happened and I hate saying sorry to my teammates because of something that frankly wasn’t even all my fault.

There is probably more I can add to the list but I haven’t noticed a lot of other stuff that needs change but won’t completely change the merc.

I doubt the first one is a bug. Same as with bullets, your nade doesn’t just crawl back in your launcher if you die. It is there and it falls to the ground. Same as even precooked nades from Fragger. For the second one, I still think FF is a dumb as hell idea.

Friendly fire is something that good coordination and teamwork can deal with, if someone walks into your nades constantly, that’s their own damn fault.

As for point #1, I haven’t ran into that bug personally.

Nader’s launcher is actually really versatile when used right, direct nades are fantastic, volleys are a great way to clear a point very quickly, and the nades deal damage to secondary objectives, if that’s something you’re into.

Personally I feel like Fragger does deserve his place, but people are far too used to him to bother experimenting with Nader or Thunder to the same degree.

Using Nader for anything other than blowing up the gen on Bridge is too risky. She’s only useful for getting rid of gens, actually. Anything else she can do is insuperior compared to other merc choices.

It’s a mechanic that prevents reviving almost completely. If a Nader dies while firing a nade, she will be gibbed by the own nade even without Martyrdom and the medic will get damaged if he tries to revive.

And if you die while throwing a grenade with Fragger it’s the same thing, it’s the risk you take using an assault class with any explosive. About the only way to fix that is to prevent the nades from ever leaving upon death. But seems like such a pointless fix to be honest.

About FF. I was playing Sawbonez and I saw a downed Nader that I went to revive. She pressed F right when I was on her -_-

Never had these issues to be honest, and we run Nader in MM a ton. Don’t know why FF is an issue either, use communications and positioning.

lol PSA to naders in comp… there is Friendly Fire

Yeah, no. Nader is probably one of the best and most versatile mercs in this game for comp. She has a few iffy mapstages but you can always make her work.

As for the bug, you can easily avoid that. This only happens if you are caught shooting a grenade and dying at the same time. It’s far from perfect, but it’s within your control.

you do not know the tourbles of dumb teammates and friendly fire until youre pushing a bio lab cap point in planetside

honestly the friendly fire in this game is the easiest and most manageable friendly fire in any game ive ever played

Bio Lab fights are suffering and I steer clear of them. Now I only get run over by blind drivers.

It’s not a bug if 1 nade drops by your body, but the fact that it’s 2 makes it a bug. I had the same thing happen to me with proxy earlier today, I died while deploying a mine and 2 were deployed.

(triteCherry) #14

I’ve had that happen a few times without dying, just randomly decided to drop two mines I guess.
