My upcoming Singleplayer Add-On Mod !

(William Faure) #1

You probably already know it, but I’m working a Singleplayer Add-On Mod for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. This is a project that was started the 1st of July. I am working hard on this project. It takes a lot of my free time so I’m doing my best to don’t waste it.

Here are the game features :

[ul]
[li]About ten new SP levels.[/li][li]New and coloured GFX 2D in-game icons. ; New blood effects. ; New weapon icons.[/li][li]New type of dynamic levelshots. ; New weapons. ; New sounds (about 70% of the sounds replaced).[/li][li]New sprites. ; New textures, in High Definition. ; Some assets. ; A new title screen menu. ; And more ![/li][/ul]

The title and other informations about the game will be revealed when the gameplay video and pictures will be out. I’m doing my best to present it soon : I want to finish the first level before show it to you.

So I let you wait, with the following Teaser Pictures :

I like the Nazi Symbol in the courtyard. I assume you made it out of brushes? Very creative.
Here’s some advice: give the enemies different skins. Those normal Nazi soldiers should be wearing winter clothing, which is included in the game. If you need help on changing the skins, let me know.

Thanks for your opinion @Ronboy : it gives me an idea of what the other mappers think of my map. About the head/skin I will do it now but do you know where I can find the HEAD and SKIN list ?

(William Faure) #4

Now done ! The enemy Nazi soldiers are wearing winter clothing.

(ronboy) #5

It’s quite simple to change skins on an AI. Make sure you give the soldiers different skins for their heads as well. You don’t want a clone army in your map.
I forget the name of the skin files for the winter clothing soldier. The names of the skins should be in your pk0.pk3 file in the Rtcw Main folder.

I have put some Norway heads and skins and some Village1 officers heads and skins. What do you think about that ?

(ronboy) #7

Oh yes, that was the name of the skins. Village1 and Norway. Forgive me for not knowing, because I’m not at a computer with Rtcw installed at the moment… :o

(William Faure) #8

There’s nothing to forgive you : I had just to search a little in the PK3 files.

Want to know what I’ve done today ? Look a these pictures :

Soon, I will be able to show a video of the game and all the details of this project. But for the moment, wait with all the pictures you have.

This map will bring back memories of the default map village1.
I’ve always had a “weakness” to snowy maps, and especially snowy villages. Nice pics, by the way.

Thank you @Ronboy. As you can see, I’m really inspired of the Village1 map of the original RTCW. Me too, I like the snowy villages that’s why I did choose to make my first level in a village.

I love winter themed maps a lot. I just wish someone would make a winter map with heavy fog, like in the maps of the last mission of Medal of Honor Allied Assault. The atmosphere in those maps is just so strong.

(William Faure) #13

I think this “heavy fog” idea would be possible. You just gived me an idea for another planned map of my game, thank you for telling me this.

(ronboy) #14

Your welcome. I think the heavy fog is best accomplished with the use of a dark sky texture. The shader file for the skies control the brightness or darkness levels.
By the way, have you played Medal of Honor Allied Assault?

(William Faure) #15

Yes I did play it. I finished it but never finished the two add-on.

(ronboy) #16

The only sequel I played was Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, but that game was terrible compared to Allied Assault.

I have just prepared my account on ModDB to announce my RTCW Singleplayer Add-On Mod later. You can access my Member Profile by clicking HERE !

(William Faure) #18

My upcoming Single Player Add-On Mod, with new pictures, videos and informations on ModDB may be announced the three upcoming days (saturday, sunday or monday).

(ronboy) #19

Wow, you’re quick. How long is the first level?

(William Faure) #20

The first level is about 20 minutes long. It’s only the first level, I think the other levels will be more long.
