I was actually going to wait a week or till the end of the month to make this thread, but i feel i’ve played enough to make a fair opinion thus far.
yes, i’m a new member here and i’ve been very active for the past few days looking for some sort of hope within brink, because i’ve seen a lot of the replies and remarks in this community already…before most of you jump down my throat i just wanted to clearly state that I LOVE THIS GAME, i enjoy Brink very much and i have good and bad opinions of things i’d like to share in this thread if you’re willing to hear me out.
I guess i’ll start this off with saying, Brink is what made me buy an xbox gold membership and another copy of the game. it started with my brother playing it on the 2nd day of release, i watched him play and felt a huge urge to join in on the action, the game looked awesome and i love a lot of aspects the game has to offer so i went out and bought myself a copy and a gold membership so i can join in on the intense action.
after playing for about a day or two…we started to realize how in-depth the game can actually go in terms of customization and i love it, i love how the game almost feels like a merge of halo/mirrors edge and much much more to add, brink has so much potential…but slowly we started finding out the bads…
I pretty much enjoy every aspect of brink, but here’s the things really bothering me and making me feel like i’ve regretted the $60 on purchasing this game.

I’ve only ever been able to join an online match with 3-4 human players max, the rest are bots, and when i try joining games without bots…i get no human players at all. i’m tired of versing bots…for a game that aims for multiplayer gameplay, i feel it’s lacking in a very big way. I feel i shouldn’t have to try to make friends on xbox live just to play some rounds online in brink, i should be able to join a game and have a full room of human players, nuff said. I’ve had to resort to changing my settings to “my rank or higher” just to join a decent game and get my ass kicked by high tier abilities and ruthless bots.

auto-balance of teams means absolutely nothing, one rare occasion i joined into an 8 human player match…just to find out it was actually 6 vs 2…those bots are literally placeholders allowing anyone to switch teams at will and because bots will always be there to fill space…auto-balance does not exist…this frustrates me alot.

lag…laglaglag, i know it’s been mentioned a ton, and i don’t think i need to go in-depth on this subject as it’s been talked about enough, all i have to say is last night when we had 3-4 human players in the room, me and my bro who are in the same house on the same router…were lagging so much we couldn’t even step forward…rage quitted and stopped playing for the night.

rewarded for leaving in the middle of an online match? i actually don’t understand the concept behind this…you guys actually reward players for leaving in the middle of matches by giving them the exp they earned for the time they were there. so when there’s a team of 4 vs 4 let’s say all human; rest bots, and the other team is dominating, the other team will rage quit and be rewarded with no penalty or losses? while the other team is left to kill bots… i’m thinking this will lead to something very bad in the long run. just like in L4D2…it’ll be impossible to complete a round without players dropping in and out if there’s no penalty.

bots are either ridiculously easy, or ridiculously cheap. frankly i’m just sick of versing nothing but bots in a meant to be multiplayer game…but besides that i hate the bots in this game, they are useless at most times and non reliable and can be the cheapest hardest mofo’s at other times…certain objectives almost promote camping, unless the mode is on “stopwatch” i can see unfairness.
bottomline, i feel like this game has sooooo much potential and i enjoy it a lot and want to play it so bad…but it’s being wasted to certain points i’ve mentioned above and isn’t delivering like it should for a $60 price tag i can’t even play the game right now the way it is.
this is my own opinion though, i felt the strong urge to let it be heard because i just spent $60 on what i thought was going to be a great game and it is for the most part…but if all i’m doing is versing bots online…then, man i feel ripped off big time.
