My thoughts and opinions in video form... [LONG]

//EDIT: Okay, so after I have written another wall of text, I decided to delete it (copy is saved tho^^). It actually was very informative I think, and in the most neutral language I have used in the past days. Guess the practice of writing those walls is finally paying of ;). So personal offence or things like this weren´t the issue. It´s not that I don´t want to spread any hate - but it´s just useless to argue. You won´t accept what I am saying until I show it you in a lexicon of gaming ABC that it´s true what I am saying, and I won´t accept what you are saying for my very own reasons. This will never change, because there is no 100% evident prove for anyone of us, and it ends up being everyones part to understand or not understand what theoretically may be the better solution. It just showcases really nice, how slightly different views, can be incompatible. And the point isn´t that we have a different view on how good this or that is for a specific game. I just think that we have 2 different games in mind. I am trying to think as economic and SD friendly as possible - Trying to use the best parts of there past games while still staying relatively open and not only making it a polished version of any of those, but a new and better game. This just sounds like a very good way for developing a game. While you rather want to innovate and suggest something in direction of a (potentially) completely new game - mostly because you don´t know what really made the past SD games special. Both ways can lead to success tho, and no one will ever know which one is better anyways. SD will probably do something completely different anyways

Anyways, when you speak with someone who isn´t native english, please consider that he may sounde way more harsh and offensive then he wants to be. That was for sure the case for my part, and I excused for that. However there is no need to start psychological predictions about others. That´s very poor, not showing any signs of respect and mostly just projecting own feelings.

onYn… You do make some fair points… However you constantly contradict yourself and you obviously have a very closed mind when it comes new ideas…

To shoot ideas out of the sky based on things that are COMPLETELY irrelevant not only undermines your own argument but is highly frustrating. I do understand that you want ET/ETQW 2 with very few changes to the overall gameplay. However what I feel you are failing to understand is that the game has already gone to far in the wrong direction to make that a possibility.

I am done now mate… sorry… I find our chats soo frustrating…

Don´t missunderstand people who give up, trying to find a final conclusion both can live with, with contradicting himself. I had actually enough fair points, I am just bored too much trying to explain them to someone who is more in love with his ideas and himself to give in even a little bit in a discussion. Every open minded person tho, would accept other opinions. I simply understand your points, while still think that they are nonsense - while you don´t understand my points and think that they are nonsense as well. If you can´t do that, and rather constantly try to put yourself in a better spotlight then the person your talking with, a discussion is useless.

I’m not totally against the idea of one merc, but this could be only possible if we have the choice of differents weapons (and abilities ?) for each merc. To be able to react to the situation.

In a MOBA, you have only one character, but after that you customize your champion with items during the match.
DB can’t reach the depth of items management of a MOBA game.

(PixelTwitch) #85

Your focus on how it would not work like a Moba are irrelevant…

The way you select your champion in a Moba is single most important core aspect of the Moba Genre…

Aspects of Moba that are as important as character selection (if not more so) include…
In game character development…
Farming for XP and Gold…
Item builds using in game store…
Champions with Abilities… (one thing DB does have in common)
Both teams are both attacking and defending at the same time…
Single map per mode design… (apart from Super Monday Night Combat and a couple of others)

Taking any single one of these mechanics does NOT mean you need to take the lot… Especially something as trivial as how you select your character…

How you can come to the conclusion that Pick and Ban system means the TTK will be reduced is more then a little silly and has no grounding in reality what so ever…

You know what I have seen so far…
2xSawbones and 2xSolly + Fire Support OR Engineer depending on Attack or Defence…
You know what we will when the game starts having a META build up…

4xField Ops on EV defence with One Medic
4xMedic on defence of C4 points with One engie (until they die and spawn as 5 engies)

You talk about adapting…
All I see is stagnant META gaming that increases predictability and removes the need to think.

This would be a plausible and fine direction to go and considering the current build probably the best as well. On the other side, it would make a redesign of the merc system necessary. That would cause a lot of work I personally would like to see done on other topics first. But I guess it would be a acceptable solution - that has the potential to become better then what we know so far.

(PixelTwitch) #87

Actually I feel the advantage in match making of only having one of each merc would be that we would no longer need to worry so much about team colors. This could make the variation in skins much better

Thanks for the video and the discussion. The build you’re playing is from well before my April “State of Play” post, so I’m hopeful that before long you’ll all have some new things to debate rather than many of these same topics that have been banging about for years.

Do you know when the next big update (regarding spread etc) is coming?

Can we expect it next week? ;>

Of course he knows
