My opinion on shotguns (video)
The shotgun range isn’t as bad as it was before, but it’s still bad. The damage IS the problem with the shotgun still. It takes almost no skill to use shotguns but gives a huge payoff to bad aimers who rely on them. The thing is, better players still understand the best option is to use bursts and autos because it’s overall a better gun assuming you have skill.
Shotguns get you a few free kills here and there.
You’d think, but I see loads of 40+ players using shotguns. still not as many as lower players but even so.

it think its a lot more prominent in pubs and less in scrims and PUGs

but by saying “Better players” one would think higher level players, i understand there are lower levels who are better than the senior players, but I (personally) expect that higher levels of about 10 levels to be better than me for the most part.
I dont know, maybe its just me who gets triggered by high level players jumping around with shotguns and bragging about how good they are.

One irrational person definitely would think that higher level means higher skilled.
Alot of players, regardless of level, spam the jump key and shoot shotguns and probably think they’re skilled in the same way Fletcher players feel skilled despite it being a crutch merc.
its hard to hear what you’re trying to say, man, but i get the gist of it.
basically, shotguns have too much range and jumpshot ability is too powerful.
personally, i dont notice if the shotgun has too much range, mostly due to the fact i do not use the shotgun at range, they could go ahead and increase the shotties’ damage reduction at range and i probably wouldnt notice.
jumpshotting however…i dunno, im not really good at tracking targets while moving, let alone while jumping and wall jumping, so the way i see it, doing something as hard(to me) as landing shotgun blast while in midair deserves the amount of damage it deals. again, that’s how i see it. maybe intergrating it into that jump momentum thing making it so bunnyhopping is less pwoerful with shotties?
Giving players the option to jump around manically while being able to spam shotguns, sticky bombs, etc accurately just doesn’t belong in a game like Dirty Bomb imo. It’s a game where tracking, positioning, and strafing are key and throwing in these gimmicks just sh**s all over that concept.
Don’t even get me started on Fletcher.

It perfectly belongs in a game like DB as movement and aim is basically a package. Such mechanics don’t belong in a game, such as, CS:GO as it’s a much slower paced game where a single headshot may mean a kill.
Jumping and getting a kill with a shotgun requires them to be in very close range, which you’re probably going to lose in the first place. If they’re jumping all over the place, I’d just say aim for the chest, since you’ll probably hit legs if they jump.
The only thing I don’t like is the explosive damage. The only agreeable ones are fragger and skyhammer since they’ve only got one charge on quite a high CD.
