my models are invisible

(Doc_A) #1

Hello All,

Everytime I create a new model it looks fine in the editor but is invisible when playing in the map. So I thought I was building them wrong.

I then cut out barrier defense1 (and associated script) from goldrush and dropped it into my map. Same problem. I can see them in the editor, but after I compile and run the map they are invisible. The tracking shows up and the devices DO function, but they are invisible.

Can anyone explain this. I’ve tried compiler options with no luck. Also picked barrier (defense1) because the script was straightforward and could be directly cut and pasted.

Every model I use does this… from trucks (blitzsd) to command posts to construction boxes.

Thank you in advance.

ok you have to select your model and press ‘N’ then in the model key in the value field delete everything before /model/

so if you had:

C:/Program Files/Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/etmain/models/mapobjects/miltary_trim/sandbag1_45.md3

change it to

models/mapobjects/miltary_trim/sandbag1_45.md3

Thanks but… that’s a different issue…

that’s the problem where you see a square representing the model in the radiant window. That’s not the probelm here.

My models show up in radiant just fine… as white outlines of themselves. It’s when I play the map that they are completely invisible. One of the reasons I copied the defense1 structure from goldrush was to try to eliminate issues surrounding creation of the models. But still no luck.

If anyone else has invisible models (in the game… not the editor) please let me know. Once again… my models function perfectly, I just can’t see them ???

Let me add 1 additonal piece of infomation.

When I copied the barrier from Goldrush, the flag next to the construction boxes was visible, but the construction boxes were invisible.

Tracking was working fine “you are near tank barrier 1”, eng pliers were shown when I approached it, and the barrier was visible when constructed.

Any heap would be appreciated.

Solution found…

It appears if you put your models too close to the ground, they will not appear in your map. In my attempt to get things soo close to the ground, I screwed myself over…

So even if they appear to be ok, if they fail to appear in your map… then you positioned them too low in the z axis.
