Are you using multiple terrains in your map. Like making a few terrains in easygen or your favorite terrain editor, and importing each terrain. Is this what Nerve and Splash Damage did when it comes to making bigger maps?

yes, the terrains were done in easygen and are connected with tunnels, because the “covert ops” path contains tons of trees, that would use up all of the gpu’s power when always drawn
