From the start of this Loadout Card system I was pushing and hoping for thousands of cards that you could scap, combine and collect. However, I have to admit that during the latest patch and the addition of hundreds of cards, I realize just how wrong I was that this would be what I wanted. In my defence, wanting the thousands of cards was tied to having a card combining system but to be honest, I am not sure that would have made much difference. I feel the frustration of getting a crappy card outweighs the pleasure of getting a good card. If I think that now, I can only imagine how both of them feelings are going to be magnified by the requirement to pay for keys.
Anyway, with that said, here is my suggestions…
STYLED CRATES
These would be the crates that have value as card carrying crates. The minimum rarity would be a rare card and they would require keys to open. Each card they contain would be hand selected by the developers and possibly contain unique skins and styled attachments. These would work like football stickers and each card would come in varying qualities that have varying features enabled. Things such as stat tracking for instance.
NUMBERED CRATES
These would be more like the Battle Packs from Battlefield. Each crate would contain some components used for crafting cards. Keys for this would be able to be purchased using in game currency. Individual weapons, augments and skins would be available as well as Common and Un-Common loadout cards. Each crate would drop between 2 and 5 items up to a certain “value”.
THE CRAFTING
The idea would be going to a screen where a blank card is shown. On first clicking on it you select the Merc you want to make it for. Then you click on each of the slots and select from the items in your inventory or get directed to the shop to buy individual aspects. To create a weapon you must have the following components.
REQUIRED…
[ul]
[li]1x Compatitble Primary Weapon
[/li][li]1x Compaitible Secondary Weapon
[/li][li]3x Compatible Augments
[/li][/ul]
OPTIONAL…
[ul]
[li]1x Merc Skin
[/li][li]1x Primary Weapon Skin
[/li][li]1x Secondary Weapon Skin
[/li][li]1x Stat Tracking Module
[/li][li]1x Name Badge Module
[/li][/ul]
Only once you level the card to level ## can you make it a shiny.
The value of the card will be decided by the skins and additional features.
Once a card has been baked it can no longer be edited.
Now this ties into my other current push of one unique weapon per Merc at open beta with very limited shared weapons. Each time a new shared weapon is released there will be a rush to make the best cards with it and inflating values. The styled crates would be valuable due to unique stuff and the rarity. New styled crates should be added each season with a virtual sticker book.
If the competitive scene does pick up you could even do “Fnatic” themed crates and stuff so I do think they will have a value still.
Anyway, yea.
