If i want to play a CoD-ish game, i will buy the new CoD:Ghosts.
Probably even cheaper then buying mercs in XT.
I already bought Battlefield 4.
And TitanFall seems to be what CoD could have evolved to.
And XT wants to compete with that, with a somewhat CoD-ish gameplay?
It´s f2p, so people will definitely have the opinion its p2win before even looking at the game.
Casuals don´t know what SD stands for, and they might never have played any of their games.
I won´t play XT if its very much the same like CoD.
Simply because there are bigger games with more players and probably in the end cheaper.
As a casual player,
if XT isn´t truly unique, why take the risk and start playing a game that is like a game i already have, plus the possible p2win?
But otherwise, Battlefield players still think their game needs more skill than CoD. Might be because of the big ad campaigns, etc.
We will see.
The TTK is in a pretty good spot now IMO. It’s perfectly possible to get 3+ kills in one clip if your aim is good enough. Many abilities are a bit too powerful from the get go, though. Hopefully their planned per-game progression system will include having to upgrade your abilities to be able to get one-hit kills (with proximity mines and air strikes, for example).

Do what you need to do, however you have failed to provide adequate explanation as to why CoD is a bad game.
I try to use facts and examples when making a constructive post. I guess some people are incapable.

Well Nexon will help with promotion, their F2P games do very well, I think this has a lot of potential. Being F2P means no upfront investment which is a double edge sword. So I’m sure lots of people will try it, its just trying to retain them will be the key.
Here are a few ways to assist player retention.
Player Empowerment: Make the player feel like they are important to the game
Strong matchmaking: Match players up as best as you can to have as close of a match as you can.
Events: either Online, or in person, host specials/events to get players involved.
User Generated Content: This is a major for any sustainable FPS. I just saw a video with Gabe Newell at Linuxfest where he says that game developers that allow user generated content often make more money than those that don’t, and their games are some of the most active. Activity is key for a F2P title, and user generated content allows players to actually own a piece of the community. UGC is the reason why people still play CS 1.6 today, and I hope that SD has something in the works for that.

I hate matchmaking stuff! PC games should be dedicated servers.
Im all for naming servers Noob or beginner so that keeps advanced players out but dont do that match making crap that COD does…
I dont think there needs to be any balance as long as there’s a full proof anti cheat. That way the noobs wont cry when you get 100 kills in a round and complain of haxing. They will just have to come to the conclusion that they suck.
Some ET Maps are still alive and other noob mods likes shrub and et pub and jaymod. Back when it was still fairly alive a lot on people went and tried those other mods and either didnt like them or were banned for being to good.
Servers should have anti anti ban rules where the person banning needs to be 100% sure a person is haxing to kick or they will be temp banned too. I would touch on banning for Language but its a free country.

that wont stop good players coming on and stomping the server to boost their low self esteem, and they are thinking of doing match making which they took the idea from CSGO and you’ll have the server browser as well
Since its nexxon I am assuming a lobby system will be up, I would love for community run dedicated servers but dint know of that will work
Community run servers. Lets hope they will be in the game. Home hosted servers are in the past with F2P. So we either have to pay nexon for a server or a trusted server provider. Of course this will increase the server prices ( no free market means no cheap ass servers), but luckily we only have to pay for 16 slots, if we can even rent a server.
I can’t believe we’re even having a conversation as to why CoD is a bad game. Holy crap. Do you live under a rock or something?
Seriously, there is no need to be nice to someone that is trying to make this game into CoD. Take your cancer and leave please.
No I am fine thanks :). It seems the question is way too difficult to understand, I’m sorry for that

Why are we all so mad that our games died and no one plays them while CoD is one of the most successful FPS games of all time? We should be really focused on helping the mass of gamers to want more, but just brushing it off as a waste of time or “we’re just too good for it” is very poor thinking. I’m way too tired of the constant ranting of the 0.1% that don’t want to accept reality.
I don’t like CoD that much personally because I find the game play overly simple and not too challenging. I consider it a solid game design for what it is though, and it obviously is doing something right. I don’t think it’s a problem to want more nor do I think it would alienate the majority of FPS gamers to have more, but you have to always be focusing on keeping them satisfied first and foremost. That doesn’t mean copy and paste CoD, but rather you look at why gamers like aspects of the game so much and then you try to find means of maintaining those things. Something like advanced matchmaking is already proven to be an incredibly effective method of giving a continuous feeling of reward to all players and helping them slowly transition into a higher level of play. There’s plenty more things that are silly in the pov of a “hardcore gamer”, but really are quite necessary for a niche game to get the attention it deserves.
The closer the open beta the more people like him will get in and write bullsh!t like that.
+1 for Kiris
Eh the good thing is that the old guard is dying out and in the minority now, so they will just have to continue to rest on old accomplishments.
This kind of devolution of concept and discussion is what will hurt this game more than any publisher did previous titles. This is absolutely caustic, and will probably close a very well thought out thread.
So many suggestions are just self-serving demands, and posts regarding discussion of concepts and gameplay go without reply.
I think we need to work on weapon balance before we discuss ttk, atm some weapons have low and easy ttk(bbq’s rifle and a few of the smgs) while others have longer ttk (lmgs and bolt action sniper rifle’s body shots) we also have some main weapons that are more utility (nader and shotguns). Needs more main weapon balancing before we can say as a whole that ttk is too low or high.
Also +1to reload while sprinting.

I think that’s a fair point. I do feel that the weapons overall should do slightly more body damage, and more headshot damage. That way casuals can duke it out, but they will lose to any skilled player who can aim for the head.

We need more gamers like you in this community.
This actually isn’t true. LOL became incredibly popular because people watched the comp play and wanted to play the game themselves. Successful esports is going to advertise the heck out of your game and get many many people wanting to try it out and play it.
LoL became popular, and then started to blow up after season 1. Prior to Season 2, they still had a strong amount of players, independent of all the eSports hype.
I agree the hype helps now, but they first and foremost made a game that the average player can relate to. Most PC FPS games have either done that and the game isn’t fun, or have failed to do so. Why that consistently is, I am not sure.
Also where in NJ are you?
