WW2: Red Orchestra 2
Modern: Arma 3
'MURICA VS. TERRORISTS: Insurgency (alpha game, not the mod)

Anw. I loved ET and to be fair I like DB too. The only reason I don’t play it 24/7 is because my friends aren’t in the alpha and everyone here is probably older than me ._.

Strafejumping - Don’t really need it. It was cool and stuff but it doesn’t fit DB as this isn’t ET2. It’s a different game with the same concept.
As much as I liked it, I don’t think DB needs bunnyhoppers all around.

Class Objectives - I like the idea of other classes being able to do ‘something’ towards the objective, but it should be REALLY limited. As of now,
Engineers are obsolete and every class can defuse and plant. This HAS to be fixed or extremely nerfed and limited.

Movement - It’s not too fast or too slow for me, and is actually quite smooth compared to some other games I’ve played.

CoD feel - ??? Where’d you get that from? CoD has 0, ZERO, NOUGHT, NADA NOTHING teamplay, no objective, only mindless TDM. And I’ve played ALL the CoDs, and I’m not proud of it. They are going WAY offtopic and it’s become a KILLSTREAK DEATHMATCH ARENA or whatever. I liked CoD2 & CoD4s gunplay, but now that’s all ****ed. On a sidenote: Treyarch < IW (Treyarch innovates every game, IW is now making MW4)

Grenades - A couple here and there, sure. Before was too much but now there’s not enough. Grenades aren’t a “special ability” :c

I’m not as old as most of you but I’ve played ET since I was 8 (._.) and played a fair amount of it. Also, this is an opinion. Not based on anything but my own preference and it may differ alot from yours, hence an opinion. We all try to make a different game out of it, but in the end it’s only 1 game, let’s try to not **** it up for our own selfish needs and remember that there’s an audience needed for the game to work.
I’m aiming for a competitive and fun to play game, and that’s what SD is aiming for.

Great games  I have already this FPS (and also Takedown) !

remember that there’s an audience needed for the game to work.

Ok, if we talk about audience, I think the biggest problem will be the feeling of weapons (you can already see that is a problem in comments on video game forums about the videos of dirty bomb).

For a FPS which approaches BF/COD, the feeling of weapons that the majority of players wants can be resumed in one word: Power.
To have this feeling of power, they want :

  • Big recoil.
  • Lot of damage when a bullet hit its target (very low TTK).
  • Good sound for weapon.
  • Blood.
Without recoil and very low TTK, in think the game will have some problems to be accepted to the most widest audience.

I’m aiming for a […] fun to play game,

This is what I would love to have, but the current direction give me the reverse result.

I played RtCW on a tournament level and would like to consider myself one of the best strafe jumpers in that game. I still don’t think DB needs strafe jumping. Auto + Unlimited Sprint works perfectly fine.

I think if they made short routes that required precise trick jumps it would be more beneficial than watching people struggle trying to master strafe jumping in an empty server.

(DarkangelUK) #64

Not to the person that’s getting enjoyment trying to master trick jumping on an empty server.

(Hundopercent) #65

The maps aren’t designed for strafe jumping. If implemented that would introduce a whole new host of issues. I made a route in my head on LB, jumping from the top of the staircase down, hitting the rail and keeping momentum through the back door to the pick up objective. It would be incredibly simple and game breaking. The only reason you would need to stop is because of “F”.

(DarkangelUK) #66

Yes we’ve been over the map breaking antics of it’s implementation already and consequently surmised that they’ve passed the point of no return to add it. My comment was purely based on you suggesting that it’s an inconvenience for users to have to practice something when that’s such a blanket statement that’s simply not true.

I wrote a whole post but my input was so bad I just deleted it .
To sum it up basically: It’s a different playstyle. Some may like it, some may not. I understand that you may feel as if you’re shooting pellet guns. This requires you to be more accurate, but not ‘every bullet counts’. But I find other games as frustrating. CS:GO seems to be random headshots often when spraying when I take my time to burst properly.

It’s a different game, and I’m pretty sure quite some people will like it. I gave the London Bridge gameplay vid to my friend that was watching the CoD stream announcement and I said: Play this, this video is pre-alpha though but it’s awesome.

He watched it and said that this owns CoD and asked me where to sign up. Ofcourse, it can look better than it actually is, but I believe that this game is quite attracting as I told multiple friends about it and they all started drooling at the idea of team based objective gameplay.

Generally the fact that it’s free will draw in people with loads. BF and CoD are both games you have to pay for. This one is free with a high quality. It’ll get played, don’t worry
My only wish is to avoid this game getting overrun by a crappy 10 year old community. Because communities destroy games surprisingly well.

(montheponies) #68

To be fair, i dont recall the stock RTCW maps being designed with strafe jumping in mind. Numerous examples of maps that had the original flow ‘broken’ my creative play (not exclusively trick jumping). Emergent gameplay is nice - not everything has to be as per the Dev script.

I can live with or without it - so i guess the question boils down to does it attract more players than it ‘potentially’ puts off.

Is there going to be some kind of shield for revived player? Like for 1 second or so, like it was in for example W:ET ?

(RasteRayzeR) #70

dude, how about new ideas instead of trying to put every aspect of W:ET in DB ?

There is already a shield.

Footnote: The medics self-revive ability doesn’t have protection

(RasteRayzeR) #72

Then I’m sure SD will get them one, just like any player being revived

(DarkangelUK) #73

I think it’s by design and I’d prefer it was kept that way in all honesty.

(Erkin31) #74

You don’t need to convince me about this, I love weapons of DB  But I talk about the opinions of the majority of players that I see on forums.

I like Free2play, really. But I will never say that it’s free.
Ok you can access to the game for free, but it’s a kind of a demo. If you want to seriously play to a F2P, you need to pay (or the farming phase will be very long).
I dropped a lot of money on F2P games (League of legendes, Tribes, Smite, Mechwarrior online, The hunter, etc.), more than with “buy2play” games like BF/COD.
DLC system don’t works on me but F2P system… Damn, I am in the game, just needs some clicks to unlock thing with money and have to download nothing… and pouf ! My unlock is here. Works every time on me.

I played RtCW on a tournament level and would like to consider myself one of the best strafe jumpers in that game. I still don’t think DB needs strafe jumping. Auto + Unlimited Sprint works perfectly fine.

And you wouldn’t love to have some trickjumps other than straffjumps ? It’s difficult to me to love an fast FPS without some kind of unique features for the movements.
Straffjump, dodge, walljump or other.

It’s possible to innovate !

Here my proposal: The knife jump.
With the second attack of the knife, a small “Splash Damage” is created, and if the player hit a near element, he’s propulsed, like with a rocket jump.
Usable to “dodge” an area, to gain speed or even to walljump for the more skilled players.

(DarkangelUK) #75

ETQW ramping + Brink wallhops and ledge climbs + W:ET ground acceleration for initial CJ = Win

Will make up for lack of strafejumps

Yea the F2P model is really too attractive often.
I too have spend way more money in LoL than in a simple game that’s for sale. (over 200€ probably)
But LoL is PERFECTLY playable without any use of real money. And using that money won’t gain you an advantage. The IP you get is fair and you get the choice what to spend it on (atm I have all champions and 6500 IP waiting in my account).
The only way you use the money is to get champions quicker, skins (cosmetic ONLY) or something like namechange.

CS:GO recently had an update, which gives all weapons one or multiple versions with a skin of it. Only cosmetic.
As much as I like it, I also hate it. CS was serious, now it’s all party hats ._. (well, a little bit)

I wonder what DB will do. The F2P system is quite limited if you don’t make it pay2win. LoL did it great.
If weapons are locked on mercs, then there’s a whole lot less to sell. And instead of making a weapon to sell for all classes, they have to make a whole new merc. More mercs = more abilities = more confusion and complication = cluster**** of stuff happening

About Brink, I liked it. But it was broken from the beginning for me. I loved the concept of SMART free running, but it failed :c
I wonder if we’ll see anything like that in DB. Ofcourse not as extreme (doesn’t fit the maps), but small acrobatics would be pretty cool.

Regarding the confusion when having too many mercs, I am also a bit worried about that.

Regarding SMART, why, they could start slowly implementing such interaction areas on maps individually and carefully, no hurry about that. Especially since they don’t have to be active with publicity advertising it anymore. One by one, map by map they could slowly implement SMART, once its general programming is done, but it depends imho on how much resourses it will draw to be worth it. Or?

Btw, which things did you buy in LoL, just curious (never played it)?

(Protekt1) #78

I’m also not a fan of the csgo IAP update. I am not enjoying the huge amount of nickle and diming valve is doing lately instead of adding real gaming value they are working on trading cards and a new hat system. At least the community map deal gave maps… Albeit freely played on other servers…

I never said they had to hurry or anything. I was just wondering if we would see small acrobatics in the game. No pressure, SD ;D
I just found the SMART system quite cool. However flawed, it was an interesting concept. Not to mention that it created extra confusion in battles, but so did strafe jumping. Implementing a landing animation (hands on the ground) is cool but makes it harder to battle if you land infront of an enemy.

So parkour + oldschool gunplay does not fit together because of the timed animations. But some things to get to hard to reach places would be fun. VERY INTERESTED IN PARKOUR MAPS THEN xD

In LoL, I mostly bought skins.
Sometimes I would buy a champion, but only Tier 3 (highest tier) which cost 975 RP and 6300 IP.

Tier 2 is like 975 RP and 3150 IP (so not worth it)
or 475 RP and 1350 IP

Tier 1 is 450 IP and 280 RP (or smth)

So the only one with the best value of RP/IP is Tier 3. The rest is quite stupid to buy from as they can be easily get with IP.

Also, you need runes and masteries. Masteries are free (skill tree ish, you get 1 point ever level up on your account) and runes cost IP. So there’s no way you can buy runes with RP and YOU NEED RUNES. No way to convert RP into IP either.

lean isn’t coming back
don’t think many people will agree with lowering the movement speed, i think many say its still to slow
there is suppressing fire its called missing
injury management is a bit to indepth for this kind of game, that stuff bet suits games like arma or swat 4
