I’ll start this off by saying I’m new to the game and so my experience isn’t quite that of Veterans, however there are things I noted that are actually quite useful and just as easy to forget. So for fellow new plays this ought to be helpful; I hope so at least.
#1: Talk. a bit obvious but it turns out that people actually listen to you when you speak, just earlier I saw a Nader pick up the EMP (in chapel) and start running with it, as a Proxy I had less area denial and ran faster, so I hit my mic button said “Let me get the EMP I run faster” Nader turned around, dropped it and began to cover me, a minute later the building was collapsing (Which EMPs don’t cause but… whatever) Asking medics for their healthpacks/med stations, Skyhammers for their ammo bags also works well (Kind of funny to ask for ammo and see 3 skyhammers around you start throwing their ammo packs on the ground XD)
#2: Don’t worry too much about dying. More of a tactical advice, I often play a bit kamikaze, as a proxy I’ll run into enemy lines and drop mines wherever and whenever while being shot at, this both lays down booby-traps for the enemy which they need to handle (or perish from) causing them to waste time on it, and also serves to reveal their location. It’s interesting to see that when someone runs like a maniac in the middle of no-man’s land everyone starts shooting regardless of strategy. So 1 person dying to reveal locations and setup traps isn’t that bad.
#3: Holing up, something I had as a bit of a pet-peeve, 4 people of my 6 player team were being stopped not far outside of our spawn by 2 people holed up in a house’s second floor (I believe it was terminal) meanwhile only 2 of us had to try and get the objective and wound up pinned by the 4 remaining enemies. While it’s a good tactic for 1 team, if people are holed up like that ignore them and play the objective, keep an eye on your butt however don’t stay at the spawn, if anything go via another route and run to the objective.
#4: Callout enemies, I do my best to try and say where a phantom or sniper is, for instance I got sniped while in the EV’s turret, I called out that sniper which was unknown at that point and boom! Nades to the face. Phantom is important to call out too and same when enemies setup an ambush you fell for.
#5: Stick with your team. Obvious and told in the tutorial but sticking with your team and playing for the team is important, like I said above I tend to do “suicide runs” when carrying an objective only to force enemies to reveal themselves and move out of their hidy-holes which, if done with your team a few feet behind you, turns your death into a blood bath and can cap the objective, you’ll be respawning (if nobody picks you up in time or if your foes focus on taking you out for good) but it feels nice to know your death wasn’t in vain. While I usualy do this with proxy to make it seem like an actual attempt at capping I sometimes do with nader just to martyrdom anyone foolish enough to try and knife me out. though keeping her alive for her nade launcher is, imho, better.
So, what do you think? Any of this helpful? Anything you noticed in your first few hours that would be worth giving a mention?
