My ET main menu turn into yellow and black!!

(houdao920) #1

As the title mentioned, I was editing with my map in Radiant, I dont know when maybe after putting a scroll texture on a surface then some part of the map get messed, several brushed was vanished and skybox leak…then I redo the brush and compile the map…
then when I open my ET I got horrible yellow and black main menu, it seems that all the shader are in mess, my custom textures once worked fine in my map now turned into yellow-black crossed…(but I can still play on the net…)I swear I didn’t do anything to the .shader and all before that was perfectly normal.
I have to stop my project and asking you guys for help!!
Maybe reinstall ET will do??..or my GTK going mad??
:frowning:

You’ve got a mod installed that is not propperly made. Remove all .pk3’s other than the default pak#.pk3’s and then start it up. It should work. One by one, reinstall all your .pk3’s (starting with ones that you know work, like maps you’ve downloaded from servers) until your game goes yellow again. Remove the offending pk3 and perhaps email the author.
edit: I should also mention: remove custom ‘shaders’ folder from ETmain. If the pk3’s arent an issue, start doing the same with your shader files until you find the one that messes it up. (btw… a shout to to C: perhaps a program for checking shaders similar to ShaderED (but ofc not so crappy) would be good? it would certainly be a boon, if you have time!)

It may be a shader you have edited for your map.
Go to your scriptfolder and check your last shaders / maybe try to take them out of your folder if you not
fin any errors.

This typically happens if you have a missing opening { or } closing bracket in a shader file.

Brackets have to be in matched pairs otherwise the game does not know where one shader ends and the next one begins.

Missing one in a script file may have the same result as well.

Thanks for your warm replies guys!!
Since there is no new PK3 files coming in, and the old pk3s could played very well, I started with the .shader
so I found one shader concluded a tcmod scroll function(which I copied the line from moroco street by night and change a bit numbers)is the crash source…
and the problem is solved!! It is the incorrect written shader problem like you said.
cant wait to back to work and share my project with you!
