my character has been deleted

hello splash damge.

my character in brink has been deleted and i really dont want to go back again i was a level 15 resistance. you can even see my achievements in steam

exact same thing just happened to me… just went to run up brink and it was as if it was a completely new game, everything has gone… 40 hours down the drain.

this is the save system problem i mentioned earlier today, SD should really do something about this, i posted a thread here : http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26024

now we gamers need to backup our brink save file, just to be safe.

I just had this problem this morning, logged off the game normally and my character was gone. After many hours of messing about I managed to get my character back:

  1. Right click Brink in steam library, properties, updates, untick enable steam cloud synch
  2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata####\22350
  3. Right click the ‘remote’ folder, click properties, select the previous versions tab
  4. Find one of the folder versions dated any time BEFORE you lost your characters, copy it
  5. Delete the current ‘remote’ folder and replace it with the one you just copied
  6. Restart computer (maybe just restarting steam would work)
  7. Launch Brink and see if your character has returned
  8. If your character is there close Brink, return to steam library and turn steam cloud synch back on
  9. Launch Brink again and change some of your weapons around or do a quick challenge mission to earn some XP (make the game save)
  10. Close Brink and allow steam to synch, once it is done launch Brink again and check again if your character(s) are there
  11. If they are it should be fixed for good, if not I have no idea but this worked for me.
