My Balancing Thunder's Ability Brainstorm

  • Remove Flash Effect from ability
  • Undo the Concussion Effect Sensitivity Removal
  • Ability Effect Radius 5 meters
  • Concussion Effect Range (Meters), Intensity (Blur/Slow/Sensitivity %)
    100%/5sec =/< 0.5m
    50%/2.5sec = 3m
  • Intensity drops as effect persists
  • Emp Range remains unchanged
  • Emp renders deployables and all electronics useless for 4 sec (difibs, minigun, detonators, revivr, etc)

To Note:
-Range and Effects in line with Fragger’s Nade Damage Fall Off.

  • Keep current fuse time, possible change back to cook, if further changes are needed.
  • Ajustments to Effect Intensity may be warrented to balance w/o Flash Mechanics
    What do you all think?

Benefits:

  • Thunder would have to be in the blast to affect himself.
  • Easier Balancing
  • Less Friendly-Fire

I think the whole point was that people would be disoriented when they came out of the flash, however, it needs to change because compared to fragger or even stoker, thunders grenades are (fairly) useless.

I like your suggestion but it might need to be booster even more.

The point of Thunder’s grenade is that it has a much larger AoE than Fragger’s nade at the cost of doing no damage. If you knock down the AoE like that then there is no benefit to using Thunder over Fragger.

Thunder’s concuss has two radii that drop off at different distances. At about twice the radius of Fragger’s frag, the flash radius. This only really affects people that look at the flash. A full 4 seconds at point blank, barely half a second at the max distance. At about 1.5x the radius of Fragger’s frag, the concussion radius. This imposes a tiny % slow on the enemy and makes their screen a little blurry.

No, the only thing that will equalize the Concussion to the Frag is if the Concussion gets a weapon / ability disable. It should simply disable player weapons and abilities for about 4-6 seconds.

That could be something interesting to explore. After all, you would expect a lot of the abilities and some of the more complex weapons (minigun, REVIVR) to be affected by an EMP based on the technology behind them.

And defibs, make emp knock out all electronic equipment. I still think the flash is counter productive for friendlies and thunder.
