My Arms are Very Far Out.

(Kadamon) #1

I start up the game, I join a friend’s server.
Yet my arms are very, very far out. I can see my shoulder. I can see everything. This is not normal. My surroundings blur by and I can barely see enemies when not in iron-sights. My iron-sights work just fine, but when out of it I can my both of my entire freaking arms.
I’ve tried uninstalling my game, changing the resolution, changing my load-out, body type, even abilities. Yet my arms, weapon, and viewpoint are still too far back.

I just have no clue how this is happening, does anyone have any ideas as to how to get rid of it?

Have you used any unofficial, 3rd-party plugins to alter the settings in Brink (e.g. the Field of View/FoV)?

No luck. It didn’t have any setting for this, and didn’t even have a correct directory.

I have the exactly the same issue extremely annoying! I went onto a server with one of my friends we both got the FOV changed and now even when I play off line the FOV is messed up and like the guy said above the arms etc are very far out and its very hard to see in the distance great game massively BUGGY!!! please sort out!!!

I think there’s a command you can type in to change the view distance from your arms, forgot what it was though :… Try googling “brink arms fov”

I fixed the FOV thing myself in brink right click on brink from steam menu and set launch options paste this in

+com_allowconsole 1

Then in a game press the ` key then type ui_fov 70

it will then change back

Please SD address this issue and others in future patches!

Sounds like the server may have been enforcing a custom FoV which has stuck, we’ll look into it.

The advice above should fix the issue.

May I offer a suggestion? Do a search for brinkconfig.cfg (should only find 1 file) and place it in the trash can. Then start Brink (it will create a new one). That will replace the brinkconfg.sys. The reason why I offer this suggestion is because there is no telling what else was altered or changed. And doing this will get you back to default settings.

It’s not a terrible idea but I’d make a backup first.

Splash Damage, you have thoroughly impressed me for contacting me before I even sent you guys anything.
I really like you already

Thank you so much sir, this worked like a charm. Now if only I knew why a server did this to me.
You have my regards.

So is there any way to increase FoV without looking like stretch armstrong? or are we just gonna have to deal with it? cause i raised mine to 95 and the only visible arm distortion is that my hand grips random air instead of the fore grip attached to the gun as usual.
