I haven’t played the Alpha for too long, but I’ve still got stuck (and lost) a few matches, due to the fact that no soldier was available. It’s kind of frustrating. Second, I’m crying out for some heavy cover fire when on the other objectives, there too, it becomes a long grind to “get things done”.
Regardless if one plays as an Engineer, the challenge is laid out for you, but it all makes sense when the classes are in sync:
Assult clears the way/hold em off
Support keeps em at bay/pushes em back
Engineer takes us forward/holds the fort
Scouts strikes the hard targets/infiltrates
and the Medic keeps everyone up and running
Think I’ve ranted this before somewhere, still, to me a Soldier class should have all the big guns, from heavy machine guns and lots of grenades to bazooka and grenade launchers. A heavy gunner is really fun to play, but, there is the “jar-head” side of a class like that, all bullets, no brain, wish, in my opinion, is the best way to play a class like that. All in, guns blazing.
C4 to the engineer just make more sense in my book. I rather have a heavy gunner slamming rockets and hell fire on the opponent while I desperately trying to rig a C4 on a barricade. Rather than standing around with my little pea-shooter, waiting for a soldier to take the time off to come and see if I can cover his big butt with 26 SMG rounds as he figures out how to plant a little bomb…
