Part from the ENG not being able to use C4 to get things done and the “always in the way” objective/team markers, it’s turning out to be a really good game.

Sure, it’s still only Alpha, but even in this state it’s really fun :slight_smile:

And, as long as “Free To Play” don’t end up being “Pay To Win” this game will really hit the mark for allot of people.

Keep up the good work Devs, it could be THE game for the next decade.

So, my 3 cents:

C4 back to ENG (plz!)
Markers on/off toggle
NO Pay To Win

And all is well :slight_smile:

c4 was moved to solider so people would play it more, it was a placebo fix and might need more discussion on how to make solider more enticing to play
icons are being fixed next patch
buyable stuff i think is only going to be cosmetics (weapon skins,player skins all that ****) maybe even vsays

I don’t think moving C4 to engy will do much other than making it the definitive obj class. In ETQW soldier had c4, but whichever class had it wouldn’t have made much difference. It would be nice to make all classes have consistent appeal regardless of whether they do objs or not though.

Give engineer some more offensive incentive and give soldier a more defined team role imo. Things should be more interesting with the tier unlock system update though, so I’ll hold out until then.

I don’t really buy the “play it more” excuse.

As many classes as possible should have their own objectives, soldier = destroy, engineer = construct, recon = hack, heck I’d even add medic = escort and something for fire support if I could.

The engineer has enough toys, he shouldn’t have C4 as well.

Multiple class specific side objs is something I’ve pushed for a ton. I’d really love to either see that happen, or simply have certain classes provide a more recognizably important role for the team (like a medic/fops already do).

I was thinking about the whole C4 with the engi situation this morning and it does seem logical. However, the balance of the classes is almost perfect with the exception of recon who is still currently a little balanced. Maybe adding a smoke granade to each loadout might help?

The soldier with the c4 doesn’t make perfect sense in the real world to me but it works! If it aint broken, don’t try fix it!

I haven’t played the Alpha for too long, but I’ve still got stuck (and lost) a few matches, due to the fact that no soldier was available. It’s kind of frustrating. Second, I’m crying out for some heavy cover fire when on the other objectives, there too, it becomes a long grind to “get things done”.

Regardless if one plays as an Engineer, the challenge is laid out for you, but it all makes sense when the classes are in sync:

Assult clears the way/hold em off
Support keeps em at bay/pushes em back
Engineer takes us forward/holds the fort
Scouts strikes the hard targets/infiltrates
and the Medic keeps everyone up and running

Think I’ve ranted this before somewhere, still, to me a Soldier class should have all the big guns, from heavy machine guns and lots of grenades to bazooka and grenade launchers. A heavy gunner is really fun to play, but, there is the “jar-head” side of a class like that, all bullets, no brain, wish, in my opinion, is the best way to play a class like that. All in, guns blazing.

C4 to the engineer just make more sense in my book. I rather have a heavy gunner slamming rockets and hell fire on the opponent while I desperately trying to rig a C4 on a barricade. Rather than standing around with my little pea-shooter, waiting for a soldier to take the time off to come and see if I can cover his big butt with 26 SMG rounds as he figures out how to plant a little bomb…

What is there else to make more sense?

Soldier = destroy everything and everyone
Engie = undestroy everything and deny enemy access

Soldier also has more HP for doing planting under fire. Who knows perhaps he will get shields… or fieldops.

Perfect match imho. Leave C4 as is but let it be planted everywhere for extra fun fragging.

Beeing a ETQW fan, I see your point. But look at it this way:

Lets say Assult get the shield, and hopefully a grenade launcher, and maybe a Bazooka equivilant… and then you have the C4…

What of the above four things would you pick if you had the option to pick two - Shield, Grenade launcher, Bazooka or C4!?

Then again, I do agree with you that the C4 (Eng or not) would be really fun to plant anywhere :slight_smile:

Regarding Smoke-grenades, I too think it would be a perfect edition to the Sniper class!

…and yes: one grenade is not enough :slight_smile:

Well, hard to say about the shield, but grenade launcher will be a main weapon for soldier 3, whereas rocket launcher will probably be an XP unlock that will substite the main weapon (e.g. grenade launcher or MG). C4 is however a tool that is always available, so I see no problem, neither I see a choice to be worried much about.
