With that logic someone who works out less then someone else at the gym should have the same amount of muscle mass as someone else as long as they have similar bone structure.
Musings on basic character development issues
Not at all, both TF2 and BC2 have ways to change class without dying, TF2 having spawn rooms that are directly analogous with command posts. BC2 class switches can even be done in the field. Its a very easy thing to kill a recon and briefly borrow his kit to lob out a sensor ball.
ETQW was probably the last class based shooter I played with the kind of restriction you’re describing. The effect was that sometimes a second objective would fall extremely quickly if the defenders missed their respawn wavesat the end of the first. Its worth noting that Brink doesn’t have the option for a player to suicide and manually join the next wave, another unfortunate restriction.
The idea that you can just “pick up” someone’s kit and now you can perform their specialties is dumb. People exploit it. Medic goes down. Someone gets that medic’s kit and revives him and then you’re stuck with a load out you don’t want. I bet you have major commitment issues.
You missed the point. Improved performance should be due to skill increase, not due to the game handing you a damage bonus for playing X hours.
Yeah, back to Arma2 for you if you’re that stuck on realism. More likely you’re just arguing for the sake of it and are picking any weak reason.

No I didn’t and no I’m not. Indiana Jones all over again.
Until most players have reached the levelling cap the game is going to be interested as well, the different levels make the battlefield more complex and players will have yet an extra dimension to set priorities on. Great stuff.
Agreed. +1 “Certain” people need not whine so much. The game is going to be brilliant.
a) Challenges are a good measure of skill. If Player A can complete something Player B can’t, I can reasonably say Player A is better at it than Player B.
b) The game doesn’t hand you a damage bonus for playtime. It may hand you an attachment that increases your damage, but it’ll also take away from your accuracy and stability.

I wouldn’t try to reason with that guy. He doesn’t seem to realize that a really skilled player could accomplish more objectives, take out more enemies, be aware and buff more teammates and level up at a much faster rate then someone who completely sucks but puts more time into the game.
I can’t say that. Challenge measure a skill outside the multiplayer environment, that means players aren’t tested against each other. I see challenges as a gimmick.
Pretty much this. Unlocks based on singleplayer challenges? A new low for persistant unlocks. I hope they’re either 3 minutes long or don’t need to be redone with new characters.
It takes away a huge incentive to play well during the multiplayer or even to play the frigging multiplayer.
No it doesn’t. The core game is still there. You still compete against other humans for doing objectives and killing.
You have to play offline in order to have more options online. It’s a totally perverse incentive.
Disagree. You don’t really HAVE to do that. The challenges are obviously to help you improve your game.

These are meant to unlock weapon customisation right? In order to have more options online you HAVE to do challenges.
They are meant to brush up the players skills and the unlocks are there as incentive. Also for the more competitive player these challenges will be the only part of the game that features any type of leaderboard. So you’ll be able to best your friends on the challenges.
Are you saying you won’t be interested in going offline at times and trying your skill at these challenges?
No it doesn’t. The core game is still there. You still compete against other humans for doing objectives and killing.
No, you do these challenges to unlock guns and attachments.
But you only have to unlock it once; they are unlocked for all your 10 characters.
You can play the challenges in coop… that’s kinda online. I see your point though tokamak, but it’s (I guess) the less of 2 evils.
-> Unlock them in versus matches which means people grind and do things counter-productive to the team but everyone gets them in game.
-> Unlock them in a separate mode that allows them to be gained without negatively affecting the rest of the people you would otherwise be playing with.
Considering Tokamak has publically declared he’s not getting Brink for all of it’s faults*, I’m guessing he won’t be.
It’s totally online, as there is no split-screen multiplayer.
*-His perceived faults.

Tokamak knows he loves it.
And it is online.
