can you have multiple sky boxs? ive added two and it doesnt seem to be working :\
Multiple Skyboxs?
A sky box is just a box with a sky texture. You may have more than one box in your map, and you may apply the sky texture to any brushes you want. I’m not really sure what you’re asking…
Xerroz, the easiest way to create “2 skyboxes” would be to create your own custom sky texture and shader.
As far as I know, there is no way to physically create 2 skyboxes in Radiant.
Skyportals are a different thing altogether. I haven’t figured these out yet, I keep getting HOM (any help appreciated…)
Thanks for suggestion, but that’s the tutorial I was already using =/ I’ve tried moving the portal to different positions, tried caulking the sky shaders in both portal and my map, tried leaving sky shaders on both, using different shaders, etc. I think there might be something else that needs doing that isn’t mentioned on that page, because I’ve read through and done everything it asks more than once.
portal Skyboxes…
create a regular level, add a props_skyportal in your level.
Create a second small area that has a sky shader applied to it’s sky areas. Make sure this area is both a long way away and a lot higher or lower than your main level to prevent errors.
In your first area, caulk the sky surfaces. This will let the skyportal be drawn with no interference.
Are you sure? According to the tut it says to add the props_skyportal to the smaller skybox, not the main map. (As I understood it the placement of this prop in the small skybox is where the main map will appear to be in-game).
In your first area, caulk the sky surfaces. This will let the skyportal be drawn with no interference.
Tried that =/
well ziege, ya stumped me. Thats the only place that I know of on the net that talks about that subject… but then again, I havent looked very hard.
