Multiplayer Bragging Rights

Although the multiplayer is very biased to certain classes and ways of playing, I think an incentive to being the victor would be interesting to see if it did so by not necessarily using stats [or at least using them in a good way].

I was watching the video that takes places after the round and I always see myself in it. I am not sure if the top players are inserted into these roles or not [I heard that this was the case] but it would be interesting to allow the top player to choose a victory screen/video that played after the round. The top 2nd and 3rd players would be inserted into a role in that video in some way.

I don’t meant he same video’s they have now though. I’m thinking more along the lines of actual glorious victory video’s. Imagine you win a round and you choose a screen that portray’s your character in some bad ass cut scene with a couple of his brosef’s by his side. I think this would be a much more interesting way to bask in your good work.

I would like some kind of stats to RUN behind the scenes of this though. Perhaps the top kills, top overall, top command posts acquired, etc… Not just best medic, best Op…

The top overall player, though, would get to choose what cut scene to play and if he doesn’t choose within a time frame, a default one is chosen. Not only does everyone see your character in all his bad-ass-ness, but you get to enjoy it that much more knowing everyone is checking out the game leader, you, at that same moment.

I think this is something that could be done with an SDK out since the likelihood of SD working on something like this is really small.

The stats at the moment don’t seem to matter much to me since I usually don’t get very high unless I’m really trying to. If I focus more on my team winning, I don’t get anything for it at the end. Perhaps this is something of a stat tangent…

I find this would allow for some real feeling of victory after a round… Just a thought…

Of course I post some random topic right before the patch hits…

On the note of random topics, if anyone is looking for a brand new Razer Mamba, let me know!

I’d like to know more about how that end video is done - what determines which players appear? Are the players ALWAYS from the server or does it sometimes use random npc characters in the cutscenes? Do other players see my character?

(Seze) #4

I had the impression that everyone just sees his own character on his machine playing a role in the videos (plus characters randomly taken from the playerpool on the server). At least for victory videos…

I couldn’t care less…next round, please!

I was kinda curious about the picks for the videos too.
Played a round on Sec tower where our Sec team rage quit and there were only 3 of us left. We lost and it showed the three sec guys getting to the dock too late except i wasnt one of them. It showed the two other players and one of them was cloned. I was mad but then I never appear in losing cutscenes

Precisely.

From what I can tell every intro clip has a spot, deep in the background and out of the main dialogue, for the own character. What ever be the factors the other characters are picked after I don’t know, but they are picked from the own team. On victory clips the own character appears, on losing clips he doesn’t.

Which makes me believe, that other players might see me and my character as a part of an intro dialogue.

Gives me a little happy~

I think I read that the top players are put into these roles from the game guide.

I’ve seen myself in all videos, though. Losing, winning… I’ve also not seen myself in both kinds.

i think its a bit unfair. if i play medic i win every game i play. yet i still dont play medic all the time. its cool when im on the cutscene at the end. not as well done as killzone3 but still kinda cool. in kz3 you can tell who got the most points by their position in the cutscenes.

arent bragging rights for <15s? do adults actually care?

also playing just for XP isnt in the team spirit of the game. i tend to amass good XP just for playing a decent medic but you could pad the scores to hell any make the team lose. maybe we need a better bonus for winning? i think doubled XP might be a decent incentive?!?

Intro video features your character and the video at each end features the best overall player.

(Smoochy) #11

ah, thats why i keep seeing myself

Well there are three characters on most final cut scenes so there must be a top 3 at least. I also think most people do tend to see themselves, that’s why i’m not quite sure this is the case, but it seems logical.

And I’m an adult. Are you saying only kids like to display their victory? You may have that backwards. Usually children don’t care. It’s the adults that care more about their place in life or in a game.

I like the intros when they break and insert multiples of characters into the speaking roles - heavy clownface with accent ‘A’ chatting to heavy clownface with accent ‘B’, is interrupted by heavy clownface with accent ‘C’.
Match begins, most of your team is heavy clownfaces (for a bit).

That’s just common paranoia.

I’m beginning to think the video does not include you based on your gameplay. I joined a server and played for 30 sec before the game was over. I was 2nd to last on the scoreboard at the end and yet still in the cut scene.

And since you are placed in a cutscene with a gun you weren’t using, etc… Just a thought.
