skin is a photoshop cs4 plugin. you need these plugin to edit it. but these plugin works only with a legal version of photoshop cs4…

or you open it with a editor how notepad++ :stuck_out_tongue:

Huh? It’s the most simplest thing ever on notepad or any other text editor. You serious about a plugin, never even heard?

They are just text based files. With it you can have different texturing possibilities with just one model file. Or select for example gear/helmet models (and their texture) for a player model or such.

Just check some skin files from pak0 and you’ll know how it works.

So ok if I change mp40.tga on mp40.skin - will it be work - need know what format skin is .

mp40 skin is the hands and arms, open .skin with notepad, it reads

b3_sleeve, “models/weapons2/arms/arm_axis.tga”
b3_fullfingers, “models/weapons2/mp40/hand16.tga”

Photoshop CS4 was not even made when ET was built… And what can a skinfile (aka a file with text) to do with an image edit program.

The .skin files ET uses are not image files, they are text files. You can megasimply open them using notepad or a similar editor, no need for photoshop, you wont be able to open those files with an image editor.

Just take that as little piece of advice: Everytime you stumble upon an unknown filetype, open it with a text editor first.
