MP Game modes?
I hope there is “brother chen was here” graffiti in the final game. =D
Think about like this: Brink’s one game mode is like All of your regular modes put together.
This is all i needed to know not “Go play a different game” atleast there is one person who isnt a dick about everything
Think first, then post
How many games do you currently play ?
one of them is likely a mindless shooter, play it when you want, and play Brink when you want
I play Settlers 3 or AoE2 when I feel like RTS , Angry Birds or Peggle for yucks and still play W:ET and even DF2 for LANS
not all games need to incorporate multi modes, Splash Damage games do very well with just the one
I do think first. How about you read first then reply?
Current shooters I play? None. I have pretty much hated shooters since W:ET. Nothing has been as fun since then especially after COD came out and all of the “me too” titles. I include BF games in that too. Don’t get me wrong I’ve played Halo, COD (eeeewww a little ashamed of that), Unreal, Gears etc and I do well in them. I just really dislike them. I played them because I didn’t exactly have a choice.
Sure I can play another game when I get bored of the 1 mode in this game but just because that’s cool with you doesn’t mean that’s cool with everyone else. Remember…my position is from a business perspective. I want them to sell millions! Why? Because I want a BRINK 2. BRINK will still primarily focus on teamwork even with an additional mode or 2 and it will attract more buyers to this unique shooting/movement/teamwork style that SD makes. Then they will hopefully naturally progress to objective gametypes because they are the most fun.
If BRINK is successful then hopefully they can team up with id to make the next Wolfenstein using id tech 5.
I’m really not looking forward to the reviews. Casual reviewers/gamers will pounce on 1 gametype, no leaderboards. You watch. Look at what happened to Shadowrun.
BTW…this is much bigger to me. If this game attracts enough buyers developers will begin to make “me too” BRINK games instead of COD games…and that my friend is a GREAT THING!!!
try stay with the topic instead of feeding your own agenda, my original reply, that you seem to think will destroy Brink sales was to the guy who wanted CTF for mindless no objective play.
“Remember…my position is from a business perspective”
I trust SD to build the game and Bethesda to publish it, your perspective is just a selfish need. Trust the pros, they’ve been at this way longer than you

Stay on topic? Seriously? I’m answering YOUR questions.
Also, you don’t know me. Just because I don’t work for SD or Bethesda I can’t have an opinion from a business perspective? So all of the small business owners/retail managers who talk to hundreds of gamers a week driving pre-sells of these very games or retail buyers that have business relationships with these publishers can’t have an opinion? Lets stay away from the personal insults and try to address the points that I was making instead. Thanks.

I think I need a break from the forums.
Do you mean that they have become redundant; that people are saying the same thing over and over again; that people are repeating things already said; that lots of posts are unnecessary because they are duplicates; that people aren’t coming up with anything new; that the threads are redundant and say the same thing’s over and over, and over? Is that what you mean? That they are redundant to the point where you’re ready to take a break from the forums because they are redundant? Is that what you are saying, because if it is I know how you feel. I do. Really. They are really really redundant, in fact it’s almost ridiculous how redundant they are.
The missions all have different side objectives which act as all the game modes you’ll ever want from Brink, and with everyone going after different objectives every game you’ll always need to find a new thing to do
You sure? can i have i have your number please so at some point in the next year, when i know each side mission and every objective like the back of my hand i can ring you up and let you know you owe me 5 internetz? kthnxbaii
So you are saying that COD, or other FPS games that focus on TDM don’t get boring, when you know every camping spot, every traffic pattern, when one match blends into another… are you saying that doesn’t get boring? Personally I get bored of TDM after a few matches now and it is back to objective maps and games that have some level of teamwork. but that’s me.
I think the way Brinks multiplayer is set out is like a corridor you walking down it, each of the rooms is the branch off objectives that each class has even if you go in every room and do everything in there, your gonna get to the end of that corridor with then end cinematic showing you either winning or losing.
Cods multiplayer is more like a great hall, with a door on the other side. you can see where your gonna go but you have ALOT more breathing room and more variation in HOW you get to the end of that journey. They just say “do this.” and you can do that (f.e capture HQ’s) howver you want, its a blank page. whereas brink’s multiplayer/story mission/Co-op is more of a colouring in book where half the drawing has been done for you.
IMO!
Mmmm IMO what makes a good FPS is its community and the fun you have playing with mates, I played SoF2 on KAM2 for like five years and only get bored after I got the gold version with moar maps and adjusted mods. TDM / CTF isnt boring if you play them properly with mates…
Lack of new info + lots and lots of newbies are your culprits there cankor
But well, if people ask questions here it shows that the game has a growing audience! (I would perfectly get rid of the newbies, you know me
, but for SD’s sake the bigger the better aight!)
Derek Zoolander: Do you understand that the world does not revolve around you and your do whatever it takes, ruin as many people’s lives, so long as you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied along the way, just so long so you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied and dying along the way?
Reminded me of this. Not a bad thing.
It has 2 game modes, Objective and Stopwatch.
That’s it. W:ET had only 1 game mode. But with the moddign communty, you got everything you want. Sniper mode (REAL sniper mode, not other faggotry in modern games), CTF mode, random-**** mode and even death match mode.
So, Splash Damage won’t do any other game mode, but if they release the SDK files, you just post your reguest on a god damn modding forum and in 2 weeks you will be playing it, if it’s a good idea.

I see what you are saying Tank (if I may call you Tank…) And the part that I agree with the most is the “IMO”, because what you describe fits my visualization pretty well, but just the opposite. TMD to me feels like I have to follow a fairly set script in order to do well at all. Of course I am a middle aged man, with a job and a family so my game time is pretty limited and as a result I pretty much… suck when it comes to twitch shooting and knowing just where to be to control traffic in a TDM map.

I agree, though most of my FPS game time is in pub matches on the 360, whether or not I have a good group that I am in is pretty random.
I am hoping to be more involved in a community for Brink.

I think most people know you can do that on PC. People are talking about the console version. I know they should get a PC because Consoles are for noobs but the reality is…most people play on console so these questions are important whether PC gamers like it or not.
Brink has regular mode, some kind of stopwatch mode, and challenges. If the gameplay is as solid as everyone who played it PAX East 2011 says, this won’t be a problem at all.
Except then you’ll have an opposing team that will also know every side mission and every objective.
It’s a bit like saying chess will become boring once I know the layout of the board and how the pieces are moved.
There’s multiple corridoors between the rooms, and mostly multiple rooms between the objectives.
Some of the objectives are even mobile.
While I agree that other multiplayer games can sometimes have more connectivity between areas, the flipside for et/brink type maps is the focus can bring about stronger conflicts that require good team support to overcome.
