i remember having done a moving mirror on a func_pendulum in q3 just for experimentation and i remember a very old q3 alpha demo video that showed a rotating mirror.
anyways i thought a mirror on a func_door_rotating would be nice but it doesn’t work anymore.
also, is there a minimum size for mirror surfaces? sometimes they just don’t work …!? (on normal brushes)

Yeah, I remembered that rotating mirror too. But had no success either when I tried it. What really struck me as odd is that the engine obviously COULD make this, but it was taken out again- for anyone remembering Q3’s hardware-hunger at it’s release it was quite strange. Perhaps someone knows about the reasons, especially Ydnar- after all to the best of my knowledge he’s the only one here who had access to the whole sourcecode (anyone else who did, sorry- I’m just an ignorant).
I really would like to know why it was removed, since I personally don’t think it was such an performance killer.
i guess it has something to do with a mirror not being able to show anything behind it’s back and thus interfering with bsp splits…
anyways i’d be curious if that feature could be enabled again.
