Mouse with reprogrammable buttons

(manicGadget) #1

I just bought a redragon perdition mouse that has reprogrammable buttons on it. I’m wondering with how sensitive the anti cheat software for DB is if it will think I’m cheating by using my new mouse.

It won’t detect any software inside a mouse. Can’t speak for the desktop software, but all modern mice allow you to save to onboard memory - which you should always do anyway because running through the software adds input lag and won’t allow raw input.

I use a great little piece of software for reprogramming my mouse called “X-Mouse Button Control” I mainly use it for games that do not support the extra buttons on my mouse or if the game does not have rebind able buttons.

However, the software loads on start up and without some digging in the registry there is no way to stop it. It is configured via profiles. So if I set up a profile for say the game “The Witcher” it will only load the profile when I run that particular game.

This brings my to my question, I try to remember to stop X-Mouse before launching Dirty Bomb but sometimes I forget. I , of course, do not have a Dirty Bomb profile set up in X-Mouse. Do I run a risk of being banned by running this program? I would to hear an official response

You run the risk yes. But if it hasn’t been caught yet you’re probably safe, know that it could change in the future though.

Macro software is against TOS.

The software does not allow for the creation of macros. The most complex thing it does is allow for a different key stroke to be press each time you hit a button. For Example, In “The Witcher” you cannot configure your mouse wheel to change Geralt’s fighting stances so, in the profile, I have it setup so that each time I turn the mouse wheel it will “step” thru the 3 stances.

You cannot configure it to press multiply keys or mouse buttons with a single click. Not trying to start an argument. I just wanted it to be clear on what exactly X-Mouse does

Actually you can use X-Mouse to Simulate a Key option by using {LMB}, {MMB} or {RMB} then have it sticky key that key so that it auto clicks while you hold down a button. So, its not macro making, but there is ways to simulate some functions as a Software/Hardware Macro programs. I use X-Mouse to do those similar options in MMOs to automatic pressing LMB or RMB 500 times to save the life of my Buttons. Use not have to use X-Mouse because I had a DeathAdder and just used the hardware software but it broke after several years and had to go back to a non-hardware macro mouse.
