Mouse & Weapon Models + random rant.

(Raviolay) #1

Right I have not been playing as them guys at Valve added the map workshop for CS GO. So I have been spending most of my free time hammering the **** out of it as that game has been starved of maps.

So I jumped back on tonight on a empty server (no one was playing in any case) just to have a quick run about, to say the least it was jarring. The mouse acceleration coupled with the huge weapons, that are pushed too far right. Made me decide to turn it off. The pistol is particularly weird, sliding across the screen giving no real benefit. I mean shouldn’t the pistol be brought up and not pulled across the screen, with a slight reduction in the FOV to get extra focus?

Maybe it’s nothing I don’t know but when playing at a higher FOV, I sort of expect that more of the weapon should be shown. With it being placed more in the center of the screen.

(Rant bit optional reading)

On a side note I think (hope) you should take a leaf out of Valves book, and have mod/SDK support. With map, skins, hats, weapons, attachments & anything else you can think of. Being made and sold by the community with you taking the lions share of the sales. It would save you with content creation, give you kudos & profits.

Also given that I have paid more for this free to play title than I do most full priced triple A titles. Other than access to an alpha & beta build what does a mug like myself get in the long run?

I asked about that here but got nothing.

There is no mouse acceleration :frowning: That said: the way mouse is handled in unreal in general means that there will always be a tiny bit of latency, at the very least of a frame. You could try disabling the one frame lag in the config files. The forum should have this listed somewhere.

I suppose it might make sense to have a separate weapon size slider. That said: I don’t know if this would happen or not, but this particular thing has been mentioned more than once already.

Also given that I have paid more for this free to play title than I do most full priced triple A titles. Other than access to an alpha & beta build what does a mug like myself get in the long run?

At the very least eternal gratitude

Generally in regards to everything feature requests or features we might implement there is a good chance you won’t hear form us until it’s set in stone or Locki/badman greenlight it upfront. There is always the chance that something does not work out (in time or at all) and if that was already promised or hinted we’re just causing disappointment left and right.

I was having huge problems with mouse lag myself until I turned off Vsync. Don’t know why but that helped enormously.

There is also a post here > http://forums.warchest.com/showthread.php/33070-Dirty-Bomb-Technical-Pro-Tips about some different settings to improve mouse response. I haven’t tried it as turning Vsync of seemed to help enough.

As for the gun models sure they are a little big but it hasn’t affected my game play much.

So I have paid to access an alpha & beta in truth (something you used to get paid for), as feature requests & features are an on going part of any free to play (or paid) title just look at Planetside 2. I am just going to have to rein in my impulses and be a lot more analytical in the future, my main gripe is this quote.

“Instead, we’re launching a Founders Club for fans wanting early access, cool swag, and public recognition for their support. On release, and perhaps beforehand, players may be able to buy additional new characters that perform core classes, but with additional weapons and abilities. These will add fun, and be different, but not be more powerful. A suite of free and chargeable additional game services will also be available. We’ll go in to more detail on these later, but they’re awesome.”

So I am expected to pay yet again, I think what I would like in return is a lifetime discount on store purchase if you are going to sting me.
