Mouse Smoothing / Sensitivity Ratio

(Snypr18) #1

Is there any way to get rid of the mouse smoothing and the different sensitivities when using iron sights and scopes in this game? I am finding it incredibly annoying and rather game breaking.

Please give us a console command or in-game option to disable mouse smoothing or alter zoom sensitivity ratios.

I thought the whole point of iron sights was to make you more accurate? One of the ways it does this is by zooming in the screen. If your mouse sensitivity didn’t change as a result, you’d have a very hard time as your screen would be flying all around the place yeah?

Other games seem to pull it off just fine, I assume Brink can do the same. Again, devs, please allow us to increase sensitivity while using scopes / irons / etc.

Didnt see that about the smoothing, I will have to toy with my video settings.

g_ironSightSensitivityModifier “1.5”

Hopefully it works.

There is also “m_smooth” which you could try setting to “0”.

I tried that in-game but the console returned the error “g_ironSightSensitivityModifier cannot be changed in multiplayer.” :frowning:

It looks like it is a locked command at the moment.

m_smooth values are from 1-8. You can not turn smoothing off completely. I assume its an engine thing because you couldn’t turn it off in etqw or wolfenstein either.

even with m_smooth set to 1, I feel like there is some slight input lag feeling. It definatly doesn’t feel as spot on perfect as quake live does. Some of my teammates are complaining about it as well but it seems more severe for them.

As much as they said Brink PC wasn’t going to be a console port, it sure a heck feels like it!?!!?!

g_ironSightSensitivityModifier is indeed locked for some reason. However I confirmed it to be working when loading a map with devmap. A value of 0 makes normal and iron sight sensitivity the same.

Please unlock it or hint us another way to change iron sight sensitivity!

he says acceleration, not smoothing, are they two different things?

(chasm) #10

Yes.

The iron-sight sensitivity would be nice to have unlocked, and m_smooth is engine locked I believe. I noticed the mouse smoothing immediately, others too.

(Angry Machine) #11

That’s because you suck, I don’t need such a low sensitivity when zooming and it’s a pain in the has not being able to track a running enemy with scope.

(RR2DO2) #12

m_smooth is defined as ‘number of samples blended for mouse viewing’. 1 is the minimum as you need at least 1 input sample for mouse input to work, 1 means ‘no blending’.

(Ino) #13

Then what does m_smooth 0 do? Nothing? Or does it reset to a default value? And what is the default value?

Also: Any word about unlocking g_ironSightSensitivityModifier from the DEVs?
