Mouse Sensitivity

(Sun_Sheng) #1

Finally decided to give the latest Wolfenstein a go and sadly it suffers from the same annoying high sensitivity mouse settings range that most games seem to favour these days. As a result, i’m trying to adjust my dpi to compensate and it got me to thinking…

Is anybody else using the old X=2 x Y method of setting their mouse up (vertical speed is half the horizontal speed), and if so, or if they’ve used it in the past, any thoughts on which works best with DB?

Usually I go with the half speed Y axis as it makes me less prone to changing the cursor height whilst running and therefore more likely to hit a headshot on first contact. With DB and the excessive (imho) number of bullets needed to put some mercs down, i’m now thinking it might be better to even the speed out, thereby giving more control over recoil on long killshots

Thoughts anyone?

I use a 40% y-axis reduction rather than 50%, no idea if it’s more beneficial with regards to DB specifically, it’s just what I’m used to so feels good to me.

Would be nice to have a slider for this in the in-game menu though.

Agreed. I’ve been using the 50% method ever since I started playing clan matches where we would all spawn together and you could aim at the back of someones head, and then keep it there more easily so you were ready for the first encounter and still aiming at head height right from the off.

In DB though, until the last patch, i’d primarily play Phoenix and go as a reviving med and all worked well until switching to someone like Stoker whose recoil would then feel really harsh. I’m just not sure if that’s only me being weird though…

I usually play with a faster horizontal speed… but since I don´t feel the wind of competition I didn´t try it out for db yet

Stoker was my favourite merc since he was introduced, when they fudged his recoil a couple of patches ago I had to stop playing him because the recoil was insane, it’s much much better now and whilst harder to handle than some weapons I find it acceptable, a fairer trade than it was previously and needed due to the higher DPS.

(At least I assume his DPS is still higher, haven’t tested it manually for a long time)

I use the same speed for both mouse axes.

G400s. 800 dpi, 7 in game sens. Having to tweak axis sens won’t really help you improve your aim, but it’s popular amongst head-line sprayers. This is why I like jumping/crouching

Ahh but then you suffer from one of my other pet hates …automatically ducking and getting headshot by a noob firing body shots  :penguin:

But a true noob will rarely hit you .
