Mouse sensitivity help pls <3

(PlatinuMRage) #1

Hi All,

PlatinuMRage here once again with another question post. I currently have my in game sensitivity set to i think is 7. and I’m still having trouble sniping as 6 is too slow but 7 is too fast and fiddling in between they seem to have either no effect or too much of an effect on my mouse movement. The mouse I have currently is in the screen shots section. The Same with my windows mouse settings. If i uncheck the box that says precision makes my mouse reaaaaaly slow for other games and such. but if i unchecked that box and i changed the sensitivity windows side would that help or not. Rather have advice first.

Till Then
Plaaaaaaaay Dirty,

Disable Pointer Precision in Windows and let your mouse driver handle the precision.

For other games such as league its really slow i know its not dirty bomb but would i have to change it back each time I change game?

I use 500 CPI and default settings. It feels slightly too fast, but I dont want to adjust my in-game settings after every update. I think ~10% slower would be closer to optimal for me.

Disabling pointer precision is a good tip. Although it didnt have much impact for my sensitivy. But that option should chance your DPI depending your use automatically, and it is bad because you probably want to use same sensitivy all the time. Depending your software, you can have different settings for each game. Whenever I launch Dirty Bomb, Steelseries Engine will cut my CPI to half and it will restore when closing session. You probably have some configuration panel to adjust your settings as desired.

PS.

I was thinking about setting my angle snapping slower. Does anyone use this?

You’ll have to change the in-game sensivity (you have to change it in league) to adjust. Also, in dirty bomb, you’ll need to make your sensitivity match your tracking speed.

how would one do this?

Go to the game you play, and go to the options to set up your controls… there should be some sort of mouse sensitivity thingy you can adjust.

Disable mouse acceleration (enhance pointer precision) and keep the sensitivity slider where it is right now.

With acceleration enabled the distance your cursor moves on your screen is not only influenced by how far you move your physical mouse, but also how quickly. This means that moving your mouse a certain distance, let’s say ten centimeters, will not always have the same outcome. That’s not good, that’s not something we appreciate. Instead we want your brain to memorize how far you have to move your mouse so that the cursor on your screen reaches a certain point (muscle memory). Consistency is where it’s at.

The reason you shouldn’t change the sensitivity slider in the windows settings is because you lose on accurateness. You either skip or discard pixels by going higher or below the 6/11 mark.

To overcome the slowness in other games you could increase the dpi of your mouse, it won’t have the negative effects of the above. Remember to decrease your sensitivity in DB afterwards as a higher dpi increases the overall speed of your mouse.

Practice, trial and error

  1. Do this

  1. Go here

https://www.mouse-sensitivity.com/

  1. Insert your settings from an FPS you like your mouse settings for. In your case, you would type the DPI of your mouse, which is 1000. I used 800 since it’s a standard.

  1. Look for the 360 distance

  1. Switch the game to Dirty Bomb and change the sensitivity until the 360 distance matches or is very close to the game you like

  1. Set your in game sensitivity to that number

  2. Repeat for every FPS game you play

You did it. If you want to get really fancy, and if the game allows it, you can even mess with the FOV settings to make them match.

HOLY FUDGE. After my computer melted back in September it’s been a pain adjusting, thought my mouse had gone with my computer or DB had had some updated tool I wasn’t aware of to fix. I’m so… soooo stupid to have forgotten this was an automatic feature of win7. Thanks!

DB uses raw mouse sensitivity by default, you’re just bad.

Actually, this was also a reminder to go download my profile for my g502 that I never re-installed after fixing too. So his helpful post was still helpful. And I’ll see tonight my friend!
Edit: Was able to adjust mouse, had a great night.
