Mounted guns & brushmodels: it works.

I just answer that my early assumption was right: if it’s impossible then use the requested
ingame model as a tag support and attach it to your brushwork script_mover with a
modelscale that make it not renderable/visible.

Once the map started jump into/use the allied land_speeder. You will notice that the pk3 does not contain any md3 model. That’s the difference between “cut/past” and “understanding of how it works”. And : no, chavo_one, i haven’t read from start to finish your thread and i dont want to. Beside this, SD or someone else should have mentioned that the health key is needed for the mounted gun to be usable (Thanks Chruker).

What’s with the attitude man? I still stand by my statement, because you have not attached a mounted gun to a brushwork script_mover. What you did was a hack. You are just moving three seperate script_movers together on a spline so that it “looks” like you’ve attached a mounted gun to a brushwork script_mover.

Congratulations on getting something to work, but don’t attack me for making a truthful statement.

Beside this, i really dont have to read from start to finish your post to learn the health key trick (is it mentioned in you thread ?). I just needed someone like Chruker who takes time to understand my needs (who takes time to read) and formulate a simple answer.

I guess I’m missing something since I can’t run the map in game while I’m at work. But from looking at the bsp and script that’s the conclusion that I made. I thought that you were just moving raidspeeder and speederman in parallel.

How about you implement this in a test map and release the source so we all can learn from what you’ve done?

Oh god ! Someone at SD did finally reply to one of my posts ! They really exist !

Chavo_one: If someone ask i will make the .map directly available. I am not usually
a quick-tempered person but i more and more often deal with teenager-minded guys
since i am interested in online gaming (why the hell am i a game engine programmer ?). I
am upset to find threads where people expose their knowledge without answering the
questions, or people answering with a dropper instead of making things clear once and
for all in a specific article, or threads where the one-line-answer is hidden/burden under a
pill of things like “Hello, what did you eat today ?” etc. And if someone ask to others
to search/read the entire forum posts before posting his question then i feel like i am
loosing faith into humanity when i see the numbers of threads and the search results
(except for the “How do i make a basic room”-like question). Fortunately, the only trick
that i coudn’t guess have been pointed out by Chruker.

Now, you can ban me from the forum if you want to. I think i have said what i needed to
say, without hiding my real thoughts behind some cutes, often so hypocritical emoticons.
I can now return to a more friendly mood.

Well let me explain my quote that you used from the top of this thread. In my experience, whenever I attached a model to a brushwork script_mover, the brushwork became invisible in game, regardless of what texture was used. Since you have to have a model to attach a mounted gun, my conclusion was that the brushwork would always become invisble when this was attempted. If you have legitimately created a textured script_mover that visibly shows up in game with a mounted gun attached, I would be very interested in seeing the implementation.

I’ve been wrong before, and I’ll be wrong in the future, so this could be the case here. I was just instantly poisoned by your tone from the beginning.

. The brushmodel effectively becomes invisible: use this one as a cliping brush set as usual (solid flag set, of course).
. Now you just have to attach ( in your script ) your brushwork model to this scriptmover. You end-up with a script_mover used as a model attached to the first script_mover.

As usual take care of orientations for your constructions.

I will release the .map and all the stuff needed if more clarity requested.

What the hell is this ? Want milk ? Since the answer was not logical/obvious then
the question had to be asked, particularly in a forum dedicated to this matter.

It was the first and the last question i ever asked about ET mapping, so you see
i can think a little by myself. Got childrens ? Got a job ? Do you really know what
is it to read tons of technical documentions in order to keep your job,
programming a game engine on a PS2 for exemple ? I have suceeded, but not thanks
to guys like you. For this matter i only rely on myself. Now learn that the ET editor
have been released in a non-commercial state and that there is plenty of dirty things
like this health key / mounted_gun flag unchecked consistency -> half of the threads
in this forum wouldn’t exist if questions like mine were forbiden.

I would add that the topic is closed: i have my answer, i gave my hints, i released the
map. That said, i think your post has no other real purpose than showing your name
somewhere on internet because someone of SD (they exist!) already tried to tell me to
chill out and if you read the preceding posts you will see (i swear) that the war is over
between chavo_one and me. Find someone else to bother.

Who am i to ask someone at SD ? A human. Aren’t they humans ?
