As someone who changes up his mercs almost every game I’m really annoyed by the fact, that you often have close to no time at all to select your new mercs/loadouts after the next map is voted. This obviously only applies to non-ranked games, and I see that the dev’s don’t want people to wait forever inbetween the matches. But on the other hand, I have to spend like 15secs + the warmup time before I can jump into the action. I’d rather have time to select the right mercs, than getting told for the 100th time that I have to plant c4 on the objectives. Are there any plans to adress this problem? Also I didn’t really know where to post this, feel free to correct me, if this doesn’t belong here.
More time to select mercs/loadouts pre-game
Oh yes this is definitely something that really annoys me at times. I have to be a ninja in order to select different mercs before the match starts.
I know what you mean. We should be able to switch while they explain the map and at the last 5 seconds it will “lock” the mercs switch
I think this fits in General Chat so don’t worry about that. More time in pre-game lobbies for Public Matches would be nice, right now it’s pretty short so they can absolutely increase it to the same amount as competitive(Really isn’t that long in the first place, people can be patient enough to wait one minute). This would also allow friends more time to swap over to the same team so they can have fun together so it’s got more benefit than just selecting mercs/loadouts.
While this doesn’t affect me it is an overall solid idea!
Yes, we need more time. I don’t know if this is technically possible, but 5s before the end of briefing would be great.
Actually there’s also a bug that the server loads a different map than chosen by voting. So sometimes you end up with 1 or 2 useless mercs. (Maybe it’s only when 2 maps have the same amount of votes?)

Not sure but I believe that bug happens when someone changes their vote near the end of the voting period, perhaps it creates a clash of interest in the system if the person changes to a map that then ties with another and as such it chooses the old map, but then recalculates and chooses the second for correction. That’s purely speculation on my behalf.
Ah yes, coherentui is such a piece of junk. I work faster than it does, as so it will lag when I could have selected the merc I wanted on my own speed.
The problem for me isn’t the time we are allocated to select mercs - it’s how slow the UI loads. I click the merc portrait - wait 3 seconds - then the UI for selecting which merc pops up. I click which merc I want - wait 3 seconds - then the UI for which card I want pops up.
There is no way I can change 2 mercs in the time allocated, let alone have time to change one! :c It is something that really annoys me, honestly XD Perhaps 30 seconds (not 20), and a faster UI would be nice >.<
I wish. I brought this up before but was shot down saying we had plenty. Yet I still frequently miss the cut off.
If the UI was snappy it wouldn’t be an issue.
I usually play the same mercs so I guess it doesn’t really bother me…but I can see how it can be annoying…especially when you join a server just before in launches and you could only literally have seconds to do anything…unlike after launch you have all the time in the world.
The problem is that I adjust my mercs to the new map, so I doesn’t make any difference if I have this whole time, when I only have like 3 seconds after the new map is chosen.
I agree, but I’m going to argue this point. We don’t need more time, it already takes too bloody long for a match to start. We need that reduced, not increased.
Another option would be the ability create merc loadouts outside of a match, and then simply choose the one we want before a match starts. For example, I’m defending on Chapel. So I have a Loadout with Bushwhacker (for his turret), Skyhammer (for his Airstrike) and Sawbonez (just for the heals). I could select that pre-defined loadout with a single click while the map loads.
But if I was attacking on Chapel? I might bring Fletcher, Nader and Vassili if I wanted to, again, pre-determined outside the game, and selectable with a single click.
I think that makes more sense than waiting even longer for a match to start. But Faraleth has the right of it, the time it takes to connect to the server in order to make your choices is the real issue. It is crap. Really crap. And if they can’t fix that, then pre-determined loadouts are the next best option
Plenty? It’s like 10 seconds. Was it Flash that said that?
10 seconds to make the decisions and execute them with a UI that takes 3 clicks to change a merc. We can’t mark favourite loadouts, so you have to pick correct one from the crapton you have.
What I would need to make it in 10 seconds is to have a shortlist of loadouts cards right on the lobby screen so I just have to drag’n’drop. The shortlist would be managed in barracks.
It would also help if we had the possibility to create different premade teams.
Edit: what @immenseWalnut said
I often get a “bug.” When I have the -merc change ui- up, after the map loads, I am forced to redeploy and have as much time as needed to change mercs.
I wish that happened to me every game.[/quote]
I actually hate that bug since it a lot of the times makes me start late.
And I personally don’t really care about more time since I usually prepare my mercs in the barracks before hand.

It only makes you start late if you alt tabbed until round start expecting it not to happen.
Pre-game time is too little. The UI is too slow. The lobby itself doesn’t really promote teamplay in any useful sense. No voicechat in lobby, either. Much of the lobby screen is fluff - the player list could stand to be bigger, as could the pictures of selected mercs. One should also have a section with pictures of your mercs that you just drag to the player area for switching off.
