More incentive to participate in Ranked Matches

(jollyRacer) #1

I enjoy playing Dirty Bomb a whole lot but after the info release of trinkets rewarded for ranked play, Competitive matches in Asia just still isn’t happening.

Games like Dota 2/ CSGO / HOTS or any other big titles out there, have a matchmaking system where players could queue up and get matched for games like how Ranked Play works in Dirty Bomb. However, for Asia servers, we could be queuing up to 15-20minutes without getting matched.

Not only will players from Asia lose out on the potential trinkets, we will hardly be able to enjoy any serious competitive play due to the terribly low number of players participating in the ranked plays. Please give out more incentives for players to go for the ranked play. Like how hearthstone awards players who play in their ranked games with cards etc.

Hopefully overall, SD and co will be able to attract more players to dirty bomb and keep it going for a long period of time. Just an example, since queuing in Ranked Plays cannot find us a game, we had to join custom games, but if I had 3 friends, its hard for us to even get on the same team.

I’ve never experienced such issues with the titles mentioned above because of their matchmaking systems - for ranked / casual. I truly enjoy dirty bomb and hope that it can do well.

p.s. Aimee is long overdue  !

well i used 300 ping and went to eu servers and got a rank just for the trinket

Don’t blame the game for not queueing you in a match. There are no comp players in Asia, so simple.

(jollyRacer) #4

That’s my point Xan! I do hope some ideas are being thrown onto the table to solve this major issue. Having a really competitive community in any region would open up so many contests etc. Personally, I’ve played many F2P shooters in the past and every single one attracted more players as the Lan competitions etc are held frequently.

Playing at 300 ping is just very sad for us.

Well from what i heard, there will be a dbn asia tourney soon in january.Hope this will “revive” the asia competitive scene

(jollyRacer) #6

Honestly, I’m raising the issue and giving feedback. You’re the one who’s leaving it as it is Josta. I understand if you’re not from Asia and don’t care about the community there but there’s no reason for you to stop others from giving feedback to the devs.

That’ll be the best case scenario Xan. How about organising Recruitment events? Invite a friend and get rewards etc. Advertise it on the dirty bomb official page. Give the new players and those who invite them something in return. That’ll help build up the community and when there’s more players, the higher possibility that we’ll get matched in ranked.

-Attract more players to play Dirty bomb in all regions
-Recruitment events / Other events to draw attention
-Incentive for ranked plays ( x number of Elite cases, in relation to the rank achieved before reset every month)
-Enable steam market trading ( like how dota 2 items / csgo guns are ) this will allow players to work for something - be it to trade up to a gold/cobalt and sell it, to buy a new game and such

(Jostabeere) #9

How do you think they should attract more players? By giving them cards for playing comp?

(YeOldeButtcheek) #10

All-in-all Competitive in Dirty Bomb as of now isn’t a priority to develop a lot of time into. Maybe later down the road Competitive Matchmaking will improve, but as of now there is no reason. The Ranking system is similar to Counter Strike: Global Offensives, and it maintains a playerbase based off that. If ‘maintaining a rank’ isn’t a incentive, then just ignore playing it until changes are made.
As of now the priority of DB is-
-Balance, and Bug Fixes
-Releasing all of the mercenaries
-Upcoming Content (i.e The Containment Wars, and “What the Dickens?” Update)
(Not necessarily in order)

I think trinkets did bring some quite a lot of fresh meat into MM mode, which is nice since only way to get it to work is to have playtesters in it. Others than those fullteam cobalts sitting there whole evening. Which are somewhat rare though thanks for scrimming and other better/faster options for them.

If sitting in Competitive Lobby counted for the 60 hours of game play for Trinkets, it would be an incentive.
Nah, just kidding. I’m spending hours sitting for the Competitive MatchMaking to fail regardless.

The cases you get for playing MM could have an increased drop rate of cards, depending on your rank.
That would be better. It allows players that spend time, and effort getting better, to have the visual benefits of their cards.
Maybe something like instead of a 0.3% chance to get a Cobald, a Cobald player instead has a 1.3% chance to obtain a Cobald card, from cases rewarded from Competitive Matches?
Gold 1-4 is 2.4% chance to receive a Gold card, Silver 1-4 is a 4.5% chance to receive a Silver card.
This would require altering the code of Cases, to specifically have a separate loot table for Competitive-rewarded Cases, though.

Heck even getting normal case after every comp match would be nice incentive in my opinion. Once matchmaker has enough free meat to grind together for balanced games and have nice lil’ mince’n’spaghetti coktail.
