MORE DIY PLS

First of all, I would like to point out that I love Dirty Bomb, and I think it’s flawless, and the GUI is perfect in every way shape or form so please don’t comment about me hating.

Secondly, I think that there should be more options to edit the way the game looks for you. Biggest example of all are the reticles. The dot and the pretty ugly crosshair ones aren’t bad it’s just that they’re a bit boring imo. I know you can customize the colour from black to rainbowy with slightly crimson patterned fuscia & torquise mix with green, but I think they lack the enthusiasm and the detail. I think instead of downloading the overlay mumble reticle or any other mods, we should have either more reticle options or a “build it yourself” option where you can select the lines, how many, the lengths, the sizes, the colours, the dots, positions etc. (there is a game that does this and it’s not complicated at all).

Another thing that I think we should be able to change is where the clock is. There are people I watch on YouTube with their clocks in the top left corner and ones with the clock in the middle at the bottom (how do they get it there?) but I think it would be better if we could hold ctrl or something to get the mouse out and be able to move the timer around the screen to where we like it. The main reason for this is that I would much rather have it near my reticle rather than top left in some unknown dimension so I can see the respawn timer easier. Of course adding the transparecy of thing would also be quite nice.

Those are the 2 things that bug me quite a lot right now but apart from that I don’t have anything else I’d like to change personally. Would love to see suggestions down below though

Crosshair customisation and HUD customisation are definitely on the “to do” list, although they may be further down the line as there are more important issues and features to solve/implement right now. There are some pretty good solutions to this until those features get implemented though -

For custom crosshairs: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=470015172

For HUD customisation, you can use: http://wezelkrozum.com/temp/xt_hudconfig/v3/

If you should need it, I’ve made a guide on Steam about HUD editing.
Also, I don’t remember who but someone made a more updated HUD generator as well.
It’s here on the forum somewhere…

@Faraleth I know about the Mumble overlay but I just thought that it should be in the game rather than an extra download file.

And what is the HUD customisation? I opened it but what do I do with it for it to work on my DB? Im slightly baffled :’(

(Rewolf) #5

You can make a custom HUD with wezelkrozum and then you need to copy paste it into your ShooterUI.ini file (I thought)

(Carniege) #6

@Rewolf is that file in the DB folder or somewhere in Steam or? I’m not good at this stuff sorry :frowning:

(Aazhyd) #7

You know you can not only change the color of the dot, but also the size (small, medium, large).

(Maddpadd) #8

Yeah but! For me anyway small is too small & medium/large are too big, would be better if you had a slider thingy <technical term :stuck_out_tongue: to scale the crosshair to a size of your liking.

(FalC_16) #9

I think we will get there sooner or later. Customization options should be available within in-game UI, not only via .ini or .cfg files.

I would not call DB’s UI flawless though ^^ Buying regular cases in store without being able to select multiple cases is ridiculous if you ask me

(Carniege) #10

@Aazhyd yeah I know that but I still would rather have a slider like @Maddpadd said and the additional options I mentioned. I think it’s blacklight retribution where you can select the size, the number of, the colour of and the amount of lines for the reticle, which is a lot nicer than what DB has.

@FalC_16 yeah it should be in the in-game UI not through some crusty folder things which I have no idea how to operate.

@Kirays Wish him luck with finiding it with the search option on the forums

There isn’t a whole lot you have to edit to get your hud to move things around as you wish. Most of the lines are self-explanatory. I just recently changed my UI that I’d been using for the last half of a year to something that is even more compact than it was and I removed everything that could possibly have to do with the minimap in the config (both on your regular hud and the scoreboard). The minimap has been tied to a lot of frame drop issues but really that’s just CoherentUI in general being crappy.

I’d suggest reading through the guides linked as they will help you with pretty much everything. Or simply ask around for a UI type you want and most likely somebody has something similar to what you’d like to use. Below is an example of my most recent one. It has most of the information you’d want to know quickly centered and I also have the UI resolution scaled way up which makes all of the hud elements much smaller and out of your way (including health bars) when playing at 1080p. So if you want a 1080p UI I can help you out.

@Kirays it was @3N1GM4 . He left it on a thread I made but it isn’t finished yet.
I was originally inspired by the wezelkrozum generator, but seeing as its now down, I’ve really got finish this:

http://labs.tastybytes.net/HUDgenerator/

Right click on the screen to pull up screen options
Right click on an element to pull its positioning options

no export currently, gotta wrap up the last few elements, and then work on the epxorting :frowning: sorry. Just a sneak preview for now.
Honestly I think he abondoned this seeing as since then it didn’t received any sort of change :’(

(MTLMortis) #14

That is way…way…way… off

Their UI needs some major overhauling and improving.

(Carniege) #15

@MTLMortis I was joking lol

They definitely weren’t the most experienced Fletcher’s for sure.
