Monitor 144 hz

(AdamHankes) #1

Hi all, I wonder if there is any difference between 144 hz and 60 hz I mean, this game is fast , if I could aim better !! now i am using a benq 24 1ms 60 hz , soo i wait your opinion guys, the game with 70, 80 frames i soo laggie ,tnx:

Actually off-topic, but 144Hz is always better as 60Hz unless you got problems with your eyes and can’t see it. I play on 120Hz and there is a big difference compared to 60Hz as it’s so much smoother.
Though, if you got a weaker PC I doubt the higher Hertz rate will improve your gaming experience in DB. Believe me, even with high frames the game feels still laggy (for obvious reasons).

Big difference in gaming!

120 HZ and small input lag, and quick matrix is a very good stuff.

i bought Eizo foris fg2421 (120 Hz VA matrix) in late september and got from 1400 elo to 1550 in two weeks. (i am a casual quaker, no training, no cups, just forfun duels, ffa and clanarena)

I sold my 144hz screen and bought a new 60hz ips screen. And when I first launched a game on 60hz again it sucked donky balls. You get used to it though.

But 144hz is beter for gaming if you get enough fps. The problem however with the current 144hz screens is that most of them use a TN panel. And TN gives **** colors and viewing angles.

if you was going to move towards 144hz today…
I would recommend going for the Asus RoG Swift.

Its a custom made TN panel.
They have bit colour instead of the typical 6bit, Nvidia Gsync, 1440p and 3rd lowest input lag on the market.
From my experience with it, I have been blown away. Its the closest to IPS when it comes to color I have seen from a TN panel.
The viewing angles are still typical TN but I think it looks nice enough as long as you position it well.
Gsync is really going to come into its own over the next 12 months.
More and more games are pushing crazy graphics (and are not very optimised as most are console ports)
Gsync really lets you take advantage of every frame up to 144fps.
Getting a 144hz monitor now and playing on lower framerates can result in sync issues and a sloppy feel.

You forgot to mention the price for this beast of monitor, which will prevent like 99% of the gamers from buying.

the main thing you need to understand is that, FPS and HZ are two different things. Then monitors refresh rate determines how many times it will will process and image per second or clocks. your FPS which is the rate your computer will process an image. so given that if you have your fps set to something like 60fps and hz set to 120, it will refresh each frame on your monitor twice. this helps eliminate motion blur. generally you want to match your fps to your monitor frequency. also higher frequencies are easyer on your eyes. Oh and the lag is most likely induced by bottlenecks between the variations of fps and poor code.

GREAT HELP ,GUYS tnx very much

LightBoost with 120fps if you’re serious. 144 is good but lb is better. 60 Hz is trash for FPS.

If you cant get 120 solid FPS 120 Hz is pointless.

Last time I tested the lightboost on mine (Asus 27") and it feel not really confortable, I prefer the 144hz standard.
Maybe I will give it a try again, but for the moment not really convinced

There’s definitely a difference in color…no argument there. That being said, however, a little calibration goes a long way towards making it, at least, acceptable. Full disclosure: the first time I turned on my 144hz benq I thought it was broken the picture was so bad. About 2 days of calibrating later, I got it to a point where I could tolerate it.

(Glottis-3D) #13

is there a visible difference between 120 and 144?

#14

Im NEVER EVER going back to 60Hz.

(Hundopercent) #15

Not for me. That’s why I just lb

#16

Yes. Absolutely.

Your eyes/brain can get used to 144hz smoothness, just as it can get used to 120.

If you use 100hz for days or weeks, and then switch to 120hz, you will feel a “big” increase in smoothness. Same for 120 vs 144.

Strychzilla calm down!

(BomBaKlaK) #18

I have 2 monitors, 120 and 144 Hz and there is clearly a big difference.

lot of pseudoscience in here

A tad off topic but …
For those wanting decent calibration I can highly recommend http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-x-rite-i1-display-pro/p1526088? the i1 display pro, and if you do any photography, the colour checker passport is equally recommended. I calibrate my monitors with it every fortnight and it takes no more than a few minutes for eac one, with automatic compensation for ambient lighting conditions
