Or lack of what I perceive to be momentum would be my gripe, I get no inertia no sense that there is a body behind the weapon. The effect from jumping and landing from height is static. There is no difference in feeling from sprinting and jumping down some stairs, and just sprinting and jumping. There is barley any noticeable bending of the knees after a jump or fall it the same regardless. There is no sway after coming to a stop after fast movement. The screen don’t noticeably shake and follow the weapon when fired on full auto from a static position. The lack of centrifugal force approximation, means that when I play the game it don’t appear to be natural. Almost like I am not playing a game at times, rather observing something through the eyes of another. I get that in other games at times, in dirty bomb however I don’t, and I kind of expect I never will, a shame.
momentum
I know what you mean. It feels really lightweight, like kinda a hollow shell running around. But some ppl like it this way as others might like more feedback from the game.
SD vs player vs player discussion Round 1^^
to one point of your post :
We already had this topic, and most player have come to the conclusion (me not included) that such realistic/cinematic effects which lead to more intense experience are not very by their favor.
EDITEDIT: only good thing, movement is not limited and you dont slow down when you got hit^^
Ehh, thank god for that, too. I haven’t seen a single shooter that ever did that without it being annoying, ineffective, or causing motion sickness. The game that got closest to getting it right was Mirror’s Edge, but that game was fully focused on movement, and that simply wouldn’t work for DB.
This is probably a case of the “immersive” animations needing more work.
As long as there is a way to turn it off then I think it would be nice to include for those that like that sort of thing.
No one wants these “motion sickness features”, that’s why they are missing fortunately!
BF3 would be the right game for you, if you’re looking for shaking clutter.
is this about visual feedback or about actual momentum ala quake style strafe jumping?
i’m thankful that all visual features will be optional but it would be neat to have actual momentum in the game. don’t want to promote strafe jumping though. bunnyhopping humans just look silly in realistic environments. but the feel of momentum would be awsome. for me personally this feel of momentum makes quake 3 still my favorite game when it comes to how the game “feels”.
+1, I’d hate any such system that left me not in complete control of my character. Vaulting over walls in BF3 is bad enough, but the thought of taking my finger off +forward and not stopping for a bit because I had “momentum”, yuck, can’t think of anything worse.
I agree somewhat but DB is leaning towards the old school type of shooter rather than the BF3’s of this world. I am not sure it needs the realistic screen bouncing when a large majority will turn off screen bobbing or anything that will hinder their visuals/aim.
Whats with all the Battlefield references? I was thinking more along the lines of Counter Strike global offensive with a little screen judder to accompany the movement of the weapon when stopping at speed. I have played Dirty Bomb for a short while without any bob, the only thing it does is make the game easier.
