Molotov Nerf Suggestion

(Rarky) #1

So as we all know that currently Stoker’s molotovs are close to being an insta kill on hit, So i came up with the idea of Damage Ramp up and a AOE Ramp up.

When the molotov hits the surface there could be an amount of time till it reaches the maximum damage outcome so it’s more like an actual area denial, Also thought of a Ramp up for the AOE Raidus over time when the molotov hits the surface to prevent being like a web you throw on people.

Thoughts on either of these 2 suggestions? Good or bad?

Why is everyone so upset that skilled players can get direct hits and so keen on punishing that?

The ability is good but it’s pretty hard to direct hit a good player with a molotov. It’s definitely best when used as area/bomb denial or clearing out an area that is typically dominated by an Aura station. And if the molotov doesn’t hit you directly a long jump usually clears you with minimal damage taken.

I see nothing wrong with the power of molotovs.

Probably because most people look at Stoker as an assault class, not fire support and they made a big deal about insta-gibs and fraggers nade and the massive nerf to it, martyrdom, and bolt actions. Then they introduce a giant circle of just slightly slower insta-gib. Because if you’re downed inside the flames, it’s a 99% chance you’re going to be gibbed.

In the context of fire support abilities (the class, not actually calling in fire support, confusing… i know) it’s fine. Seeing as Kira’s laser, artillery, and airstrikes all gib 99% of the time.

If you compare this to something like those death machines in the sky, molotovs aren’t nearly as fearsome. They are much more versatile, I personally favor them. Except maybe arty’s over-sized laser pointer, that has a special place in my heart.

Molotovs are more effective than any airstrike or mortar in most situations. The latter may be better at killing vehicles, sure, but molotovs have more area control and can be used indoors.

Honestly, I think that Stoker should have his ability to give ammo nerfed. Making him need to be in open air in order to give ammo would make his role still versatile, but nerfed well in underground areas so that he isn’t strictly better than all the other fire support classes.

Being able to call in a supply drop would be pretty interesting.
