If there’s a source (map file) available you can edit the map file.
But you should rename the map (and may be ask the original author although source is available).

Other maps should only be modified via mapscripts (not working with etmain).
You should also contact the author.
In the etpro wiki there’s a tutorial how to mapscript.

Best to check readme files and ask the Author.

In the case of my maps, the sources are released as examples, and licensed as such. If you want to modify it to release it, then you need to ask me (mainly to stop multiple versions with minor changes).
