So everytime I want a model I select mic/miscmodel, load the model I want and then hit n and change the path.Do I have to change the path everytime I want a model or is there something that I can do so that I dont have to change the path everytime?

nope you have to change every time 
If you need more of the same models just press SPACE.

Still wonder why some get this problem and some don’t.
A wild guess is that you guys have a space in the path to the model, while I have none and do not have this problem. I just point to the model in that open model dialog and everything is set. Try to install ET in a path with no spaces in it?

My install path has plenty of spaces in it and I don’t have this problem.
IIRC early versions of GtkRadiant could do wacky things if you used Gtk style dialog boxes instead of standard win32 ones. Check under Edit -> Preferences -> Interface -> Layout for the setting “use win 32 file dialog” which is on by default, and should probably be left on. If any of you that are having problems have changed this setting, maybe try changing it back?
