Hi!
I made an object (a simple pyramide) in 3dsmax 4.3, exported it via popnfresh to gtk radiant.
(following this tutorial:
http://www.mikesteven.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/tutorials/ddtutorial01.htm).
At first I couldnt see it in GtkRadiant 1.3.8-ET (im making an ET map, but I think my question is the same for Quake map making).
I only saw a small wireframe box, indicating where the model should be placed.
Then i hit “N” and deleted everything left of “model”, so the path became: “models/mapobjects/loffymodels/pyramid.md3”, and then I could see it in the map.
Problem: The model isnt placed exactly where the small wireframed box is located.
If I place the model where I want it, on the floor, that little wireframed box is below the model! In fact, it is below (outside) the map!
So, when I compile it says “Map leaked!”, and I can see that the leak comes from the little wireframed box (becaouse it is outside the map - below it).
How can i get my model (the actual pyramide) to be placed exactly where the small wireframed box is?

Models, wireframed box outside map - leaks
that’s the ‘center of origan’ marker. You’ll need to reexport the model with that in the center of mass; ie: instead of aligning the base of your model to the floor more it down so the dead center is over the central 0,0,0 axis point.
Either that or just extend a bit of brushwork downwards to cover up the origan point. Jobs done.

i have placed some homemade models into my map, and I want to delete them. But I cant find them/i cant select the small wireframed box!
This is what i have done: I right click, select misc, misc model, and try to place my homemade model. But the path was wrong (when i did this the first time). In other words I did not write the path correctly (models/mapobjects/loffymodels/pyramid.md3).
So, those models are not visible. All that is there, is the small wireframed box.
Now I cant get that small box out of there. (It is only a test map, so it is not a major problem - i just want to learn.)
How do i select that small box! Clicking on it dosent work.

create a brush that surounds the box from any one of the 2d views.
then hit the “Complete Tall” button.
Also in the Select dropdown, select>select copmlete tall.
and the brush you made will disapear and the box will be selected.
Ok, solved that last one. how to select little wireframed box. View>filter>world. Then go to top view, draw brush around it, select partial tall. And it’s selected.
Still working on initial thing: re-exporting the model, with new - better - centre of origin.

any hints on the change origon problem. I cant get it to work. (Still trying though, so it might work soon.)

changing the model’s origin is just moving the model in 3dsmax to the center of the modeling space.
