Models&.tga files

(stadilainen) #1

Alrighty, palms&palm leaves make me want to cut my self…

First I couldn’t get them visible at all, then I managed to get them work like they should.
In /sv_pure 0 and /devmap, that is

When I created the actual pk3 file and tried the map in the real environment the trunks were invisible but the leaves were showing up.

So, am I doing something wrong? Both of those were misc_models.
I don’t have ANY models or .tga shots of them in my pk3.

Now to the second question; when will you be needing the models&shots of them in your pk3?

Thanks.

The levelshot of your map is used at loading time, see the picture in the left-upper corner.
The models will be used if you have put misc_gamemodels in your map and didn’t use models comming from pak0.pk3.

Thanks for your answer kamikazee.

It wasn’t the levelshot I was wondering about though, but the .tga files of the models. (palm leaves, palm trunk)

When I created the actual pk3 file and tried the map in the real environment the trunks were invisible but the leaves were showing up.

You need to include the shaders for the leaves in the PK3, and make sure that radiant’s shaderlist.txt file has your shader file name in it.

If you use misc_model, you don’t need the model in the PK3 (the model gets compiled into the BSP), but you do need the shader script and images in the PK3. If you use misc_gamemodel, you need the model in the PK3 as well.

palm leave texture needs to be added to your pk3, as there bits that come with the radiant model assets

Heh, why should I add the leave texture to my pk3?
The LEAVES ARE showing up, the TRUNK ISN’T.

Again thanks for the answers…

Oops - i just noticed “invisible”.

Are there any warnings in the console.

Nah.

I miss read your post a bit…and this may/may not be relivent to the problem.

On the left is the pk3 folks get with the game, on the right is the stuff that comes with radiant (and sits outside a pk3) that is on your system.

I had problems with the leave in one of my maps, which is why I mentioned it.
If your using any of the textures on the right in your trees, then you’ll still need to add them in your pk3.

And in that case I suppose it doesn’t matter if the class was misc_model or misc_gamemodel?
