Modelangles error

(Harmonieman) #1

Hi, I have a prob with my models… in the radiant the model rotation is shown in the correct way, but in the compilied map it is not!

but not all models are wrong compiled… see this

I use the 2.5.5 test 10…

can you help me?

Well, I can’t tell you why (I forgot) but I know that you can adjust the rotation on another axis until you figure out which one works.

Which version of GtkRadiant are you using? I’ve found that between 1.2.13, 1.3.2-beta and 1.3.8-beta, they all interpret the “angles” key differently. The 1.3.8-beta seems to have the most “correct” interpretation, though, when compared to the way “angles” is treated by q3map2.

That’s correct. GtkRadiant 1.2.x series have an older version of the math library which has a bug in the matrix rotation code. It’s fixed in SDRadiant (ET tools) and in the recent 1.3.x series.

I decided it was better to have the correct code in Q3Map2 as opposed to broken code in both, as the bug prevented certain angle combinations from working at all.

If you don’t want to install 1.3.8, then you can “guess” what the final result is by using this cheat sheet:

“angles” “PITCH YAW ROLL”

“0 0 0” looks dead eastward, along the positive x axis

“0 90 0” is equivalent to “angle” “90”

“45 0 0” pitches the model 45 degrees.

Nice models, BTW. This for a tiny map?

hey I was lookin for my coffee cup, give it back!

I am having the problem that sounds related to this thread… in mapfile my brush is drawn correctly, but when compiled (-meta, -vis, Q3map2 V1.3.8 ) brush is offset from where it is drawn in mapfile.

so some brushes are moved from where they should be. How do I fix it, use a different version of Q3map2??

(ydnar) #7

BRUSHES moving? Never heard of anything like it.

Are they in an entity?

It’s from the Padmod. A comic-styled q3-Mod. --> http://www.worldofpadman.com/

well apparently I need a little break from mapping, it was an allignment error, my bad… snap to grid was on but arch behind brush threw that off just enough to have me waste about 4 hours…

and I thought I checked it 4 times! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I know your busy and I appreciate it…
