model tag names

(mrfin) #1

Hello mapping types

'attachtotag truck tag_wback ’

Above is a line from the goldrush script that refers to the tag with the trucks back wheels model. Thing is, the model has a different name than the tag.

Question is where do I find the tag names for models?

Thanks for help

I think i read this somewhere already, try searching under model and tag

You could open up the md3 in a modeling program (gmax say) and find the tag names. Otherwise, just check to script files for attachtotag lines. I think the truck has four tags: tag_wback, tag_wfront, tag_obj1 and tag_obj2 (not sure of the name on the last ones, but check in goldrush script where the goldbar are in the truck)

If you look at the MD3s in a text editor, among the rubbish you’ll see the tag names.
BTW, that line attaches the ORIGIN of the mover you created to the “tag_wback” tag of the truck, the mover you’re attaching doesn’t need to have that tag name.

Thanks v much all

I’m after the tag name for the fuel_can model because ive included it in my custom radient script mover that needs a tag for smoke etc.

Not every model has a tag (fuel_can included) and if there is one, it might be at the wrong place (you can use LithUnwrap to see if there are tags or not). It’s possible to make tags in milkshape and export the model to md3 then. This tag tutorial shows how to do it.
