model question

(diaper eater) #1

ok so i started my first map, got all the necessary basics to get it to work, and now i wanna add trees, so i click the tree planter, and click around on my map and nothing happens, so obviously i have no idea how to use it, also, if i goto misc>model, i choose a palm tree, and put it in, but in radiant its just a wireframe cube, like any other model i put in the map, and it doesnt show up in game, please help

thank you

ok nother problem, i put in health and ammo cabinets, and they work fine, but the health and ammo arent on the cabinets, i have teh metal stands that hold the ammo/ health, but they dont show up, yet it still works :banghead:

ok the way to put trees in map is very simple actually

u make a large brush(the size of the area u want ur trees in) and make it so, the top of ur brush is at the same height of ur terrain
then click the tree thingy
and then start left clicking away in the brush u made

PS, u can only do this in top view, and make sure u turn of the tree planting button

If the trees dont show up right away in ur view, just move ur viewpoint a bit in topview window

thank you, it worked, but the trees arent solid, and there isnt a spawnflags box to make em solid like there was in rtcw, how do i make em solid in et

having used Et for about three minutes now, your question would have me building a brush around the tree and adding an invisible solid texture.

put a weaponclip brush around the treetrunk, so they cant fire through the tree

Besides the excellent tutorial : SD also included the .map-file of Goldrush : Have a look at how they do their stuff in there : And then try to accomplish the same efftect/brush/light how they did it.
don’t copy/paste, but do it yourself : That way you will actually pick up more imho.
