I use blender and I love it. How to export md3:

Download any md3 exporter script (google). It usually uses wrong the paths tho (like C://… instead of models/…). So it will come out as shader missing. If you do get wrong path, download npherno’s 3d compiler and compile it with that (easy and fast).

yup, same here. I use blender and I have downloaded a .md3 and .ase patch for blender. Its the best free modeling program out there in my opinion. The set up is like no other program as far as orientation, so it has a little bit of a learning curve.

I also added the md3 plug in file I use. you just stick it in your plug ins folder

Also, if you want to get into modeling quickly, and don’t want or need quite as big and complex of a program such as blender, you could use Anim8or. I used this program for years, and used exporters to create the file type I needed. You can do all your modeling in this program, then export your model as a 3ds, and open in in blender and export if to and md3 file format from there.
